There are reports on the UGA board of Newman and family being on the UGA campus today.

That all comes from a UGA writer interviewing the HS coach in Graham who told him that Newman's made his decision. UGA people are understandably optimistic (those who want Newman, anyway) that this corresponds nicely with Fromm's announcement.

The Muschamp situation is almost as bad as our Manning situation. #1, they can't afford to fire him because he's owed too much money #2, they made him demote OC Bryan McClendon who is BY FAR their best recruiter (one of the best in the country), and I'm sure that demotion is going to do wonders...

I agree with your conclusion about Manning going, but I disagree about Currie. He wasn't in a position to say no. If we said to him "The job is yours, but you've got Manning for at least another year" he still would have run to sign the contract before we could change our minds.

Matta came very close to taking the Georgia job last year. Private plane to Athens, etc. etc. Seemed like a done deal at one point and might have been. Whether that says more about his willingness to get back into coaching or the opposite of that, I don't know. I'd like to think he took one...
