That the unemployment rate has nothing to do with people having two jobs?

But how would you explain that to someone who is working two jobs while someone else is working none?

Jesus Christ, you're out of touch. Also, why are you so concerned about what Republicans think of a Brooklyn congressional Democrat?
So you think uninformed about basic economic concepts is a good look for a congressperson? Plus the far left is promoting her as some sort of standard-bearer which means she's much more visible than your typical nondescript congressperson. That means she will be at target in a focus of criticism of the right probably in a lot of races other than just hers.

That would cause the unemployment rate to be higher not lower. However statistically it has very little impact.

Unfortunate that some Democrats are more focused on pedantic mistakes and misinterpretations than discussing actual material conditions of society. As we all know, a politician who speaks off the cuff will never be successful.

Yes we know that you would be her cheerleader but she has your vote.

Given that she's a 28-year-old novice running her first major campaign, I'll give her a pass on being a little rough around the edges and not as savvy in her remarks. Maybe she'll turn out to be a dud, maybe not. I do think it's clear that the NY Democratic Party Establishment is not very fond of her at all. If she keeps making factual mistakes and bumbling for some time, then it will be time to re-evaluate her. I think she's been a breath of fresh air so far, which is exactly what the Democratic powers-that-be are afraid of. As a professional politician, she's still very much a work in progress. For now, I've adopted a wait-and-see attitude, but I'd definitely support her in this election, unless she really goes off the rails.

I personally would prefer that Dems make zero decisions based on how something will play out on right-wing media.

I gladly welcome Republicans and establishment Dems to counter working man and woman Progressives with elitist comments like “you don’t understand economics.”

She’s arguing that wages are a bigger priority than employment. We need an economy in which people can work and live and build a future for themselves in 40 hours a week instead of working to survive and build a future for some CEO and investors in 60-80 hours a week.

"something, something, socialism can't win in the midwest"

James Thompson. Homegrown veteran progressive. He lost to the incumbent 52-46 in a special election in April. The incumbent is Republican Ron Estes. His opponent? Ron G. Estes. Kris Kobach ruled that Rep. Estes can be listed on the ballot as Rep. Ron Estes vs. Ron G. Estes.

I reject the position that a candidate must know absolutely everything to be qualified to run. We have some of the dumbest people in America in Congress right now (and possibly the single dumbest person in the WH). I much prefer the candidate that has an idea/goal to work towards that is willing to listen to constituents on how best to get to that goal and is willing to listen to experts to learn more about that policy goal.

Also, it is undisputed, scientific fact that young people are better at being adaptable, applying new ideas, and not being stuck in me mindset. I don’t really care if Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t know something as long as she is willing to learn about it and use that knowledge to improve things for her constituents and America as a whole.

I'm down with this 40-hour work week. Where do I sign up ? Any universities hiring ?

Yeah, but she might want to consult with someone a little older who knows WTF they're talking about who can look over her speeches and tweets before they wind up as fodder for her opponents.

Really, you could say the same thing about Trump, just not older.

She already won the primary, and her district is a minority/Dem stronghold, so which opponent should she worry about? The working families party candidate who isn't actually running? This is my point, exactly what hypothetical voters are on the fence and basing their vote on which candidate is more pedantically accurate? The fact is that this is a non issue for everyone but center right Dems who want any reason to undermine a leftist movement.

it's not pedantry to understand how a major economic indicator works, especially when running on economic justice

that and Republicans who always like to cherry pick statements by "extreme" Democrats or socialists and use them to tar and feather everyone who is to the left of Lisa Murkowski. Sort of the Bill Maher/Maxine Waters phenomenon. Democrats do the same thing using extreme statements by right-wingers but the right seems to be more effective at it for some reason.
