we can barely hit 60% participation, inclusive of all reasons, but all of a sudden everyone suddenly will GAF about their ability or the value of their vote?

its just liberal reformist bullshit that strips people of self-determination. I don't know how you discuss a reform like that without any serious confrontation of the way institutions would wield that power.
 
Crazy idea. Why don't we just invest in civics education, reinstall the fairness doctrine, and make sure the electorate is more informed?
 
the same way the current constitution was created via discussions about extant forms of government and ways to address abuses of institutional power

i mean, you guys are the ones telling us how possible socialism is if only we would rationally discuss it, right?

I wonder what impact the FL vote to reinstate voting rights to about 1.4M felons will have in 2020.
 
I wrote about this before, doing a quiz where the results are never known to anyone. Afterwards your vote is either counted or not counted, at no point will you ever know if your vote counted or not. Questions would be civic questions like three branches of government as well as issues like which candidate stands by which position and finally more competent tests like is Obama a Muslim yes no.

Problem would be that if you knew that you had to answer those questions correctly to get counted and you didn't know the answers, you'd know pretty quickly that you're not going to be counted.

Though, if you're talking about it purely as a deterrent to keep uninformed voters from affecting elections, then yeah, that's a good way to do it.
 
Oh yeah if you’re dumb as shit I guess you could be self aware you don’t know the answers to it but maybe it would lead to some self reflection that you should learn something also a great way to discount people that are full on propaganda believers.
 
It's scary that you all are even having a conversation about secretly not counting votes.
 
Given human nature and the corrupt gamesmanship of our current system, how could anyone trust a man behind the curtain system where you don’t know if your vote even counted?
