'17 Specials & '18 Midterms Thread

If the Democrats were really serious about winning back control of the House, the first thing they would do is shit-can Nancy Pelosi as the face of the Democratic Party. That they evidently cannot see how toxic she is to their cause when you leave Marin County is a big part of their problem.

They also need to shut down Bernie Sanders. His supporters see him as selling out, and he makes Trump supporters blood boil. Funny thing is if Clinton would have won he would be out of the picture by now.....massive heart attack, or something like that.;)

Nobody thinks Bernie sold out except for the lunatic fringe who finds a reason to complain about everyone.

And neoliberals make Trump supporters' blood boil, not Sanders. And I can't blame them for that.

Pubs love Sanders.

At this stage there is nothing to "villify". Pelosi acts and sounds like a blubbering idiot more often than not these days. She doesn't speak in coherent sentences very often. It's like having Dan Quayle's mouth on steroids being the standard bearer of your party. She makes the Dems look nonsensical at this stage.

Very accurate assessment. Would love to listen to a podcast of just her and John McCain talking. About anything. First one to release a coherent sentence would win.

Pelosi needs to go. They need to put someone like Swalwell, Castro, Gabbard, Joe Kennedy or of they want an older person -Yarmuth.

The #1 thing going into 20 is not to nominate anyone over 60.

Wagner won't challenge McCaskill for Senate in Missouri

Wagner is the latest of several Republican House members from states President Donald Trump carried last year who have nevertheless opted against challenging Democratic senators in 2018. Former Rep. Ryan Zinke had been courted to challenge Montana Sen. Jon Tester, but opted to become Interior Secretary instead. Rep. Sean Duffy decided not to run in Wisconsin. And Rep. Pat Tiberi passed on challenging Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio, while Rep. Pat Meehan said no to a bid against Bob Casey in Pennsylvania.

In West Virginia, though, Republican Rep. Evan Jenkins has jumped into the race against Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin.

Questions linger even after Paul Ryan holds town hall meeting

But Ryan's schedule Thursday included what was billed as employee town halls. And at WPC Technologies in Oak Creek, that meant most questions were selected in advance by a company official.

This was the first one from the audience: "If you had to make a decision between attending an October regular season Packers game or a Brewers World Series game, which one?"

This guy.

GOP establishment goes after Alabama congressman running for Senate for criticizing Trump

McConnell's Super PAC is running attack ads against a member of the Freedom Caucus running for the Republican nomination for the Alabama Senate seat. (He is running against the guy that was appointed to take Sessions' place until the special election in the fall.)

GOP Senator: ‘I Consider It a Biblical Miracle’ That Donald Trump is President

Alabama is wild, man.

Alabama is fucked up. Brooks' competition for the republican senate nomination is Luther Strange, the guy appointed by the previous Gov who had to resign in shame and under investigation for criminal use of state funds to conduct and cover up an affair. Strange was the lead attorney in the investigation, and Bentley hope that by giving him the senate seat the investigation would die but it did not. The other big competition for the nomination is Roy Moore, the guy who has twice been kicked off the state Supreme Court for violating and disregarding US Supreme Court ruling over a 10 commandments monument and gay marriage. Mean while, it looks like the Democrats are lining up to nominate an openly gay rabid environmentalist.

Geez. I hope the birds are worth it.

AL isn't the last state I'd pick to run an openly gay rabid environmentalist, but it's not far down the list. Couldn't they at least run a former Pub like Sir Charles? He was thinking of running for governor at 1 point.

Two out of the previous three Alabama Governors are in jail or will be soon, Sir Charles should stay away from that job.

There are a few other Alabama Dems who've thrown their hat in the ring but the Gay environmentalist is the only one I hear about:

http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2017/05/gay_environmentalist_running_f.html - Maybe "rabid" is an overstatement, but if "gay" and "environmentalist" are your lead descriptors you've got a slim chance in the GE.

http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2017/05/doug_jones_announces_run_for_u.html - Seems like a plausible candidate

http://www.al.com/news/mobile/index.ssf/2017/05/who_is_robert_kennedy_jr_alaba.html - Mystery man with a famous name

http://www.al.com/news/huntsville/index.ssf/2017/05/south_alabama_democrat_jacob_f.html - A south Alabama business man

Correcting my previous posts, Governor Bently resigned after pleading to Misdemeanor charges and avoided jail time, this came after he appoint Strange to the Senate.
