2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

I voted for Obama twice and think he was a great president. I would not vote for Bernie sorry. I am not down for the systematic destruction of our economy.

Versus a destruction of the entire nation if Trump wins...Got it!

I don't think that will happen. 100% chance I lose money, people lose jobs, people lose homes, children suffer, and minorities are the hardest impacted if Bernie gets elected.

Which economic policy are you most scared of? Wealth tax? M4A+GND cratering the economy? All of the above?

I know you (and the GOP) want to make a historical boogeyman out of big scary socialism. But the places it has failed the worst were revolutions in already poor or war torn places. The places it has largely worked spectacularly like Scandinavia have a larger sovereign wealth fund (state controlled $ as a % of their total economy) than places like Venezuela.

I’m willing to concede that capital has done a great deal in the 20th century to lift the world out of global poverty. But what good is all of America’s wealth if we’re extremely socially poor? What good was Obamacare covering more people if medical bankruptcies are still so predominant? What good is any of it if the planet is uninhabitable in a couple generations?

If you are that certain, please show your work. What specifically do you think Bernie is going to get passed in Congress that will do those things?

Hasn't your position all along been the system is broken, needs reforming, but until it is, we can't have purity tests for donors?

And no, Bernie would not need Steyer or Bloomberg's help in the general, directly or otherwise. Unless you mean you'd need them to not run as a third party.

Yes. That's my position.

The Dem candidate would definitely need help from people funding GOTV drives, gun reform groups like Moms Demand Action, etc. and hopefully counter GOP spending on digital messaging and foreign interference. No solo act candidate is going to win and have coattails to make a difference.

How would children and minorities be negatively impacted when they are the core of Bernie's target groups?

Why would people lose homes?

You make absolutely no sense.

FiveThirtyEight dropped their Dem primary projection tool yesterday: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-primary-forecast/

Yeah, and e-v.com had a piece this morning discussing the possibility of a brokered convention this year. The discussion comes up every 4 years but it never happens. But if we end up with 4 fairly strong candidates all getting 10-30% of the votes and delegates, there is more of a chance of that happening this year, especially considering the 4 consists of 2 more centrist types and 2 more left wing types. Looking at 538's forecast, adding Biden and Buttigieg together would put them just over the top, and adding Warren and Sanders would put them a bit shy. This Dem primary and convention could end up eerily similar to the 1824 general election with a "corrupt bargain" being a not unlikely outcome.

You make absolutely no sense.

Bernie gets elected, the stock market/economy crashes, people then lose their jobs and homes. First jobs to be cut are going to disproportionately hit minorities.

Biggest difference to me between Warren and Bernie is that Bernie will use executive powers to try to implement his socialist reforms while Warren will go through congress.

Which "socialist reforms" that will crash the economy do you think he will be able to implement via executive powers?

whatamount just refuses to go more than surface level thought on any of his supposed strongly held political views. You’re basically the tongue tied MAGA kid from the video on the other thread.

My first executive order...SEIZE THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION

My second order...EAT THE RICH

Generally speaking I think you will see a lot of people move their investment profile away from stocks to low yielding bonds in the event of an impending Sanders presidency.

Try a little priest.

There have been some polls out the last few days from GA, AZ, NV, MI, IA & WI. Polling has been strange in WI. Dems were up a few to several points over the summer, but Trump had been up the last couple of months. All the Dems were up vis-a-vis Trump in this 1, which is encouraging. Everyone is also up in MI, which also bodes well for Peters in the senate because I'd assume there will be little ticket splitting there. GA isn't even close according to Mason-Dixon. Biden is still polling best by far against Trump, except in IA where Buttigieg did best (losing by 1%). In AZ, Kelly is up 4% on McSally, though none of the Dems had a lead against Trump, though Biden was tied according to the PPP poll. Overall, this was an encouraging set of polls.
