2020 Presidential Election: Biden v. Trump

nah, rural guys struggle with opinionated, intellectual women who don't defer to men, unless it is their mommy

Walmart pulls guns from shelves ahead of election

'Walmart Inc. has temporarily pulled ammunition and guns off its shelves ahead of any possible looting or civil unrest that could take place following next week’s election.

“We have seen some isolated civil unrest and as we have done on several occasions over the last few years, we have moved our firearms and ammunition off the sales floor as a precaution for the safety of our associates and customers,” Walmart said in an e-mailed statement. “These items do remain available for purchase by customers.”'

We get it. Rural and suburban folk didn't really like Hillary. They also wouldn't have liked Warren.

You are aware that Iowa, Michigan, Kansas, South Dakota, Alabama and Maine all have women governors, right? And that states that have never elected a female governor include New York, Illinois and California while places like Montana, Wyoming, Louisiana, Kentucky, Texas and Oregon all have.

But, yes, I would no doubt be worried if Warren were the nominee she'd lose.

Aside from Kansas, which has a female Democratic governor, the other states that are largely conservative have female Republican governors.

It's that combo of a Dem + female that some people just aren't comfortable with. Trump: "we're not going to have a socialist president, especially a female socialist president."

Hillary was a very sharp candidate with incredible experience. Some people hated her for reasons that are still unclear. Some people continue to rail on her to justify their vote for Trump. In fact, Trump himself continues to rail on her to justify why he is President. At the end of the day, I think she just had too much history from being around so long, and she and Bill had been in the GOP hate machine for so long, some of the sentiment was just entrenched.

That was 1 of my issues with Warren, even though I like her personally. Both she and Hillary have that school marm trait that limits their appeal. I didn't have the same fear with Harris, Klobuchar, Whitmer or Duckworth as #1 or 2 on a ticket.

You mean like Michigan's governor, Amy Klobuchar - who does great across a very rural state, Krysten Sinema, Jacky Rosen, Tina Smith (who will win this election easily), Margaret Wood Hassan, Tami Baldwin, Heidi Heitkamp (who won in ND), Debbie Stabenow and other women democrats who have won statewide elections in states with large rural populations?

Elizabeth Warren would struggle to win a nationwide election if she were a man.

I think folks continue to buy into this narrative that HRC was discriminated against vs. people just refusing to acknowledge she wouldn't be well liked if she was a man. In part its because Hillary, who can't stomach losing, herself puts out this vibe that she is victimized. At least I know that is part of what I find insanely unappealing about her. If you're going to be President I really don't want to hear from you about how a reason policy A or policy B you are advancing isn't being accepted is because other people don't like you because you have Red hair or a vagina or a mole on your forehead. I don't want to hear about why it's "unfair". It's a huge part of why the public hates Donald Trump - it is never HIS fault.

This

Also this. Although I would say that Hillary comes off as very cold and aloof, where Warren doesn’t.

Completely agree. Is the nation reeling at the thought of Kamala Harris being President. No. Why? Because she comes off as competent and confident and comfortable. She doesn't come off as wonky (Warren) or as someone who places blame for shortcomings on systemic problems (HRC). Part of what we all hate about Trump is his hyper willingness to find faults in institutions or society for his own personality issues - which HRC does to some degree too (albeit, less). Wonky doesn't work well as a man either. Warren also would struggle as being painted as too far to the left. Trump has tried that with Harris - it hasn't gotten traction. It would have with Warren.

Dude. We get it. You hate HRC. Probably voted for Trump because of it. And we see that other people in the boonies agreed with you! But don't make it seem as if people were jumping over themselves to have Kamala as President. She dropped out fairly early after not getting traction.

And no, Hillary did not say "policy A or policy B [she was] advancing isn't being accepted is because other people don't like you because you have Red hair or a vagina or a mole on your forehead." Actually, who did say something like that was Obama - Republicans cling to guns and religion. He was right. Hillary was also right that some of the Trump supporters are deplorables. And she was right about Russia.

Correct assessment

She's the best consumer advocate we have in DC, and no, she's not as cold, aloof or untrustworthy as Hillary, but she still has that school marm quality that I think would limit her appeal in a national race.

How the fuck does Warren come off as wonky?

Is this serious?

Reminder to both sides: Hillary got the most votes among people who voted. The problem was the location of votes, not the number. If it wasn’t for dumbass Comey pushing a fake investigation, she would have won.

Also this is the Biden-Trump thread. Let’s stick with the last round of polling than rehashing 2016.

Y'all motherfuckers best stop poor mouthing my girl Warren unless you wanna face some serious repercussions.

Assholes.

How does somebody whose tagline was "I have a plan for that" come across as policy wonkish?

Apparently wonky means you don't wanna fuck her, because that seems to be the majority of the criticism of her appeal in this thread so far.
