2020 Presidential Election: Biden v. Trump

Biden is now looking like a mortal lock to win. He's expanded his margins in the Midwest and various other states that went to Trump are now in play. Trump was in bad shape before covid and the protests. He's now completely imploded. It's over. Biden just has to pop his head out of the basement, start sounding Presidential, lay out an actual vision and it should be an epic landslide.

Careful now... Angus will dig this up and repost it in early 2024 to show how wrong we all were about Trump and the 2020 election as Donald Trump Jr. Sails to victory over Meaghan McCain, Track Palin, and Scott Baio in the GOP primary "election."

Y'all have a lot more faith in the electoral process of GOP controlled swing states than I do. With Trump this desperate voter suppression is going to be next level this fall.

Which states are those? Wisconsin? Nope. Michigan? Nope. Pennsylvania? Nope. Minnesota? Nope. Ohio? That guy is no fan of Trump's.

Trump has imploded. He has a 39% deficit with college educated women. It was 7% in the last election. The only significant demographic where he holds a lead is non-college educated white men, and that lead is shrinking too. He's done.

Remember, Bloomberg has promised to spend whatever it takes to beat Trump and will go hugely negative on Trump.

On phone polls. I think Brasky is implying that the people they're able to reach on the phone won't actually make it into a voting booth for one reason or another, largely regarding voter suppression.

"Mortal Lock to win"? Only if he figures out some way to avoid the debates.

Trump will lose it in the debates. If he tries the BS he tried on Hillary, Biden will turn around and give it back to him.

Bloomberg promised to keep his staff on until November.

Yep and he understands that not that many people are paying attention yet. So, his team is waiting until sometime around Labor Day or so to start.

That's awesome news. I previously said the winner of PA will win this election. I'm starting to think Biden doesn't even need PA, but will get it. If Biden wins FL, this is going to be a murder.

Speaking of Florida.

TALLAHASSEE — Democrats have opened up a 302,000-voter advantage over Republicans in vote-by-mail enrollment, an edge that could pay big dividends in President Donald Trump’s newly adopted must-win state.
Five months before Election Day, more than 1.46 million Democrats have signed up to vote by mail compared to 1.16 million Republicans, according to an analysis of state Division of Election data released Friday. By comparison, in 2016, Democrats held an advantage of about 8,800 in vote-by-mail enrollment.

That's more great news. IMO, vote by mail this early is a big sign of enthusiasm. Biden doesn't need to be good, people hate Trump that much. And they should.

This election should 100% be a slam dunk. Do no harm with the VP pick. Nobody hates Biden. Nobody really likes him, but nobody truly hates him like people hated the Clintons. The small part of Trump's base that really thinks Biden is Hillary 2.0 and did a Pizzagate with China and Ukraine or whatever Q is telling them will believe something no matter who the candidate, and again, that base is really small. They're also the same people who think that Biden is a socialist, and therefore it shouldn't matter too much if Biden picks a slightly more progressive VP than himself. Still, Trump has so little going for him right now given the state of the nation. He's likely lost a decent chunk of his base either to losing jobs or dying or having family members die of coronavirus. For the slim part of the electorate that does care about issues, it's also sort of a no-brainer election; Trump hasn't delivered on his promises, or where he has they've more or less blown up in his face--Trade war, border camps, decimating the administrative state.

I think a modern landslide probably looks something like 350 electoral votes, not 400, but I think that's where we're headed.

In 2016, Trump asked blacks "what do you have to lose?" Well, in 2020 over 40,000,000 people of all colors lost their jobs; by election day 200,000 people of all races will have lost their lives.

How's that for a place to start?

Pennsylvania has no excuse vote by mail for the first time this year, and there's been some speculation that Trump's VBM fear mongering is discouraging Republicans from signing up.

Democrats requested Pennsylvania mail ballots at higher rates than Republicans in every county

Democrats requested mail ballots at a rate outpacing their edge in voter registrations. Nearly 1.3 registered Democrats requested mail ballots for Pennsylvania’s primary election, nearly 2.5 times the 529,000 Republicans who did so.

Which could make things...... interesting, given that the in person votes will be counted first.

Trump has had to decide between assailing the legitimacy of this election (no irony there) and shutting up about mail in voting. His decision to preemptively blame fraud by mail in ballots seems to be backfiring. Is there something I'm missing, or is this monumentally stupid?

Yes. Saying a form of voting that he uses and typically benefits Republicans is ripe with fraud was very stupid.
