2021 Republican Coup (Practice Run)

Mike Lindell is a con-man, you don't say! i am absolutely shocked that his grifting symposium was a bust.

The article wonders whether Lindell is a con-man or a mark. It seems to lean toward him being a mark being conned by someone who is promising him "evidence," and he's doing all this in trusting that person. If so, then he is more of a tragic figure. What he's doing is still wrong and dangerous to the country, but it will cost him everything - reputation and $$ after he inevitably loses the Dominion lawsuit. He's about to get a hard lesson on Consequences.

These are multilevel grifting schemes. Someone like Lindell is grifting and getting grifted. I doubt he’s pocketing all the money he’s raising but Trump is.

[h=1]DC Tunnel History Site Flagged Suspicious Activity Before Capitol Insurrection[/h] [h=2]Web traffic to WashingtonTunnels.com was so unusually high starting on Jan. 1 that the site’s operator notified the FBI[/h]

Carter, a longtime D.C. professional who once interned on Capitol Hill, created and curates the website detailing the history of underground tunnels and pipe systems in the nation’s capital. The site, which has a narrow but devoted following among D.C.-area history and city planning buffs, includes maps and details of the underground transit rail system, along with water and sewer systems.
Carter has also included maps of the unique and heavily traveled underground tunnels on the Hill, which connect the Capitol building to House and Senate Office Buildings, the Library of Congress and the Capitol Visitor Center.
Traffic on the website is usually limited to visitors and referrals from people in D.C. and in nearby communities in Virginia and Maryland, Carter said. But starting on New Year’s Day, a spike in traffic included visitors nationwide. He said a deeper review of analytics from his site revealed many of the clicks were coming from hyperlinks shared on anonymous message boards, sites and forums named after militias or firearms, or using Donald Trump’s name.

well I mean the alternative is socialism so you gotta do whatever it takes to protect freedom even take away freedom makes sense

One of the participants in the Jan 6 insurrection was to be sentenced. He claimed he was just a "tourist" filming the insurrection. Then a video arrived at the FBI office about 4 hours prior to sentencing. It showed him assaulting a police officer. His sentencing is on hold. His lawyer described the video as "troubling."

Just a method actor practicing his craft. You really gotta get your hands on someone to truly bring the character to life.

Filming yourself and your accomplices committing crimes is one part of the internet I never saw coming. Being filmed, sure. But providing the evidence to the entire world including then authorities yourself? Woof

The amount of video footage available is part of the reason for the slow roll on indictments, arrests and trials of those involved in the insurre. The courts have forbidden the use of contractors to go through the videos to identify participants. Only law enforcement personnel are allowed to do that.

ETA:
Apparently groups like the sedition hunters are considered to be essentially the same as people calling crime tip lines. They figure something out about a seditious and forward their work to law enforcement, in this case the FBI.

Judge Sanctions Trump Allies And Orders Legal Education For Failed Election Lawsuit

Nine attorneys aligned with former President Donald Trump who filed an unsuccessful lawsuit challenging Michigan's 2020 presidential election results will have to pay financial penalties and face other punitive actions for their legal effort, a district court judge ruled on Wednesday.

"This lawsuit represents a historic and profound abuse of the judicial process," U.S. District Judge Linda Parker wrote in her scathing decision on the case.

"It is one thing to take on the charge of vindicating rights associated with an
allegedly fraudulent election," she wrote. "It is another to take on the charge of deceiving a federal court and the American people into believing that rights were infringed, without regard to whether any laws or rights were in fact violated. This is what happened here."

The ruling stems from a lawsuit brought by the attorneys — including Trump backers Sidney Powell and Lin Wood — which sought to decertify Michigan's election results under the false pretense that ballots had been manipulated in Joe Biden's favor.

Biden won Michigan by more than 150,000 votes.

Trump and his allies sought to overturn election results in a number of states, often urging local elected officials to step in to help their cause. Out of office, Trump has continued to spread baseless claims about a fraudulent election.

That lie was a direct catalyst for the deadly Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol insurrection, during which supporters of the former president stormed the national seat of democracy and attempted to halt the certification of Biden's election win.

"This case was never about fraud—it was about undermining the People's faith in our democracy and debasing the judicial process to do so," Judge Parker wrote.

After the lawsuit failed, the state of Michigan and the city of Detroit asked the judge to sanction the nine attorneys. She agreed Wednesday, ordering them to pay costs incurred by the state and the city to defend against the legal action.

The costs have not yet been tallied.

At a July hearing, Powell said she took "full responsibility" for the lawsuit's paperwork. Powell told the judge she'd practiced law with the highest standards.

Parker also ordered the nine attorneys named in the ruling to receive 12 hours of legal education, six of which will focus specifically on election law. They could face possible further action in the individual states in which they practice.

Did your member of Congress talk about the planning of Coup, Part Deux this weekend? Mine did.
