Army v. Power V conference opponents since 2018:
2018: @Oklahoma 28 Army 21 (OT) -- OU's QB was Kyler Murray; OU also had Cee Dee Lamb
2018 Army 70 Houston 14 (Bowl Game: Houston isn't a Power V team, but will be in a couple of years)
2019: @Michigan 24 Army 21 (OT) -- (Current Deac Christian Turner had 3 carries for 20 yards)
2020: @ Cincinnati 24 Army 10 -- Game was 17-10 late in the 4th quarter when Desmond Ridder threw a 60 yard TD
2020: West Virginia 24 Army 21 (Bowl game: WV scored a TD with 3 minutes left to take WV's first lead of the 2nd half
2021: @Wisconsin 20 Army 14
Things to note: OU played in the football playoffs that year and Murray won the Heisman that season. Michigan was #7 when Army played in the Big House. Cincy was ranked #14 last year when it played Army. None of those teams played at West Point. Despite playing against more talented and high powered offenses, Army didn't give up more than 24 points at the end of regulation to any of those opponents. Said it when the year started, hate the scheduling of Army ever. Hate scheduling them in the middle of the ACC season more. No win proposition.
WF is the first Power V team to play at Army since Duke played there in 2017 (Duke lost that game 21-16). WF is the first ranked team to play at Army since 2013. Army will be jacked for this game, while WF is more focused on winning an ACC title than beating Army.
The good news: WF is off a bye, and Army's pass defense is suspect. That said. Would be thrilled with a 17-16 win and to get the hell out of West Point. Also, there is no other OOC opponent that WF has currently scheduled more often going forward than Army as WF plays Army in 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026. WTF? OOC games are so precious. You only get 4 a year, and WF is stuck playing Army every year for 5 of the next 6 seasons.
