2023 MLB Thread -- World Champion Rangers - Hot Stove Warming Up - Soto to the Yanks - Ohtani's destination unknown

And their organization is flush with prospects to use a trade chips to bolster their roster by the August 1 trade deadline. If the Orioles can add a solid starting pitcher, they have as a good a chance as anyone in the AL.
Marcus Stroman?

Saw a dude on MLB network today suggest Shohei for Jackson Holliday straight up. Said the orioles can win this year and you have to go for it. That would be tough to give up one of the best prospects in a few years for 3 months of Shohei

Best prospect in the game for the best player in the game….

NC HS player Walker Jenkins has signed; he was a UNC commit. All 2023 MLB first round picks have signed:

Checking the MLB Draft Tracker, as of 4 pm, the only player picked in the first 10 rounds of the 2023 MLB draft to not sign is Jackson Baumeister of FSU. He was a compensatory pick after the 2nd. His slot value is $1.24 million, and it appears from the O's bonuses paid to date, they have at least that much to offer him. If Baumeister does not sign, that would be a major add for the Noles. Would guess that he will sign before today's 5 pm deadline.

Dodgers trade for Amed Rosario from the Guardians. Interesting in that the Guardians weren't expected to be sellers. Trading deadline set for Tuesday.

Rosario stinks and this opens up a spot for them to call up Rocchio

Ohtani pitched a 1 hit complete game shutout today; guess he’s good with staying with Angels; guess he’s going to win AL MVP; guess he’s the best player in the game…. Maybe ever.

Followed up by a multi HR game 2

Worth repeating. Pretty friggin amazing
This is probably the craziest Shohei day, yet.

9.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R

40 minutes later...

He goes 2-3 (3 RBI), with a 383' shot in the 2nd, and a 435' bomb in the 4th.

That's just disgusting. Most mortals would have 100 lbs of ice strapped to their shoulder after throwing 111 pitches in game #1.

Ohtani just goes back out there and launches rockets.

Ohtani is amazing. FWIW, he did leave game 2 due to some sort of back pain.

he batted 2nd in the lineup during the game he pitched yesterday (he went 0-5; he is human)

Let's put that in perspective. He had one less hit than the entire Tigers line-up in their 29 plate appearances facing him.

To be fair, he wasn't batting against himself.
