Aaron Curry traded to Raiders

Alright let me explain what I meant, as I can see it is pretty confusing. Curry is a very fast player, and plays on a really slow team. For example in a game I saw AC play last year, Curry blew through the offensive line and ran over the full back on a pitch play and then and hit the RB about a yard shy of the line of scrimage, almost bringing him to the ground the the RB bounced up and took off for for about 40 yards down field. The announcers ripped curry a new asshole for not making the tackle. What I saw was, no other seattle player even close to Curry. Now all of a sudden curry looks like a bad player. Now, lets put curry in the same situation in Baltimore. Curry blazes through the O-Line, destroys the full back and knocks the RB off course again..but doesnt bring him down. The next thing that happens is either Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Haloti Ngata or Terrell Suggs or a combination of all of them arrive and take the ball carrier down immideately for no gain. The announcers would then rave about how curry "Blew up that play" and put a stop to it. Eventually, Curry will be making that tackle, especially if guys like Lewis and Suggs are helping him mature. Curry has freak atleticisim, he just needs the coaching and mentoring of players and coaches that know how to channel all that energy and athleticisim into an unstobable force, which he could certainly become. Just watch what suggs does every game. Thats what Curry could become with the right coaching and mentoring.

I so agree with all of that.

Curry is fast, but he gets lost in open spaces. In the multiple WR formations (where the NFL has evolved too), he struggles.

Again, too top heavy at present. Needs to just do maintenance on upper body and work on lateral quicks. I'd probably show him Joey Browner's flexibility regimen. Curry today is closer to E.J. Henderson when Henderson was a 1st year. E.J. has improved his lower body balance considerably since his rookie season.

So Aaron Curry needs to play with an awesome defense so he can be awesome? It's not like anyone is double teaming AC. Seattle put AC in different packages this season that would give him more opportunities to rush the QB and so far it has not led to much. He has had two different coaching staffs and hasn't thrived under either of them. I thought he played pretty well against SF, but he dropped an easy pick against the Steelers. Two weeks is quick to pull the trigger, but who knows. Curry did get a lot of playing time this week FWIW.

Seattle's defense is actually not terrible this season. Their safeties and D-Line is pretty solid, they need a better pass rush (hello AC) and the corners can be suspect. Unfortunately for them they are on the field the entire game because the offense is beyond terrible.

Looks like AC may be headed to the Panthers sooner rather than later.

Around the NFC West: Curry's end game?

--------------
Looks like Seattle Seahawks linebacker Aaron Curry will find out whether a few tweets can accelerate his departure from the team.

Curry, who used Twitter to lament his use as a pass-rusher last season, has let loose with a few curious tweets following his Week 3 removal from the starting lineup.

When packfan_1995 mentioned to Curry that the Seahawks had enjoyed a big win against Arizona, Curry replied, with, "yea they won." Curry also said he would embrace a chance to play for the Carolina Panthers.
Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times has the details. O'Neil: "There were no indications Tuesday that there was any change to his status with the Seahawks. He is listed as Wright's backup at strongside linebacker in the team's official release for this week. It appears the two sides are headed for a split, and it appears the question now is how clean the break will be."

Noted:
The Seahawks have already declared their hand on Curry by shortening his contract and replacing him in the starting lineup with rookie K.J. Wright. The contract change gave the Seahawks an easy out if they wanted to release Curry following the 2011 season. Releasing Curry before then would be possible, but the team would be eating millions in guaranteed money for 2011. Trading Curry would obviously have appeal, but it's unlikely another team would acquire his contract for this season. Rules would prevent Seattle from agreeing to pick up most of Curry's 2011 salary to facilitate a trade. Those rules complicated 2010 efforts to trade receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who also had short-term contract guarantees. The Seahawks wound up cutting Houshmandzadeh, then paying most of his salary after Houshmandzadeh signed with Baltimore.

It's also not a good idea to renegotiate out of guaranteed money. I guess there could be other circumstances, but not looking a good move.

Does anyone remember Curry's rookie season? I would look for articles on the seahawks then, and it seemed like he got reprimanded by the league and it took some of the fire out of his game, ie he stopped flying to the football and talking and wasn't allowed to be his emotional self on the field. He's got a coach now that didn't draft him and I recall the defense being less suited to his skills, so it makes sense that he needs a fresh start.

I have no problem with him being a UNC basketball fan. I think he does support the wfu football program and it would be easier if he was on the east coast. I understand some of his rants about Wake getting into too much PC recruiting. I hope he has a lengthy and successful NFL career.

He always wanted to play for Carolina... :couch:

PS: It should be noted that the following tags were made before I even posted on this thread: racerispissbag, racersucksdick Some sort of weird tag stalker running around adding tags to threads I haven't posted on? Awesome.

Eh. Don't sweat it.

Reports coming out that the Panthers, Eagles and Packers are interested in Curry. Sounds like Seattle really wants to move him before the trade deadline and get whatever they can instead of losing him for nothing by cutting him in the offseason.

the panthers need whatever help they can get at LB with Davis and Beason both out for the season. Their D sucks out loud.

I would think just having Curry on the team would improve the defense. Just give Curry one job, either pass coverage or get the ball carrier and let him go. Guy still has a ton of talent and physical skill.

That's not how defense works.

Eh, it actually is in some schemes. Don't see Clay Matthew's dropping back in pass coverage much do you? Of course i'm simplifying it a little but some guys in the NFL are obviously specialist and I can see that helping Curry. Aaron's problems in Seattle have been all scheme related and it looks like he is thinking to much out on the field. Getting him back to reading and reacting on instinct by simplifying what he has to do is the best way to get his game back.

I would love to have him in Charlotte, plz make it happen.

What's more disturbing than Curry being a UNC fan (don't get me wrong, that is pretty gross) is the amount of effort grown men are putting into nitpicking at AC. He likes Carolina -- despite my disgust, I recognize there are greater transgressions in life. He has some issues with Wake -- surprise, surprise, so do a lot of other former WF athletes. No one knows because they're not popular and people don't obsess over their Twitter accounts (which, if you're putting a lot of stock into Twitter accounts, maybe that's a problem you should be focusing on because it is pretty silly obsession:tinfoilhat:).

WF isn't perfect, WF football isn't without flaws -- heaven forbid he say on Twitter what many "fans" come on message boards and say. I respect him more for having balls enough to not use anonymity to express his opinion, good or bad. Contrary to popular belief, AC doesn't owe us anything. If we're doing a cost/benefit analysis, we've gotten more mileage out of him than the other way around. Over a lifetime, he'll catch up; but right now, we're still ahead. And this obsession with what school he uses in the pre-game announcement reeks of middle school drama:tear:. Someone hit the nail on the head earlier: it means a lot more for those EE Smith kids to hear their school's name on national TV than it does for Wake. We're not hurting that bad that he can't throw his HS a bone. I swear, it seems like people will make up a slight just to have an excuse to feel victimized.

Acting like he's Billy Packer....
