Governments role is education, proper subsidy policies, and protection from unhealthy chemicals in our food and water, and perhaps taxation on unhealthy foods. After setting a fair environment for healthy eating, people need to be responsible for themselves and let the health insurance industry operate like all the other types of insurance (that coincidentally, are not in crisis): life, auto, home. Of course part of the reason we are in the mess we are now is because of the government study of 1974, and its unintended consequences.
I do not think the Pubs will come up with a needed comprehensive plan - either ignorance, or unwilling to gore bulls in the food industry. We need fewer sick people, and people are eating themselves sick. For Pubs, it is easier to criticize and run than govern. Let's see what they got. ACA is a pretty low bar, though.
