Banning Critical Race Theory

Legislatures, Departments of Education, School Boards, and, ultimately, us. I think well means one thing, you think another. The one with the most people who agree with him wins.

I noticed there's no mention of angry white parents pressuring teachers here. You agree with everyone you think you disagree with.

There are far more shitty bills that don't get passed than ones that do.

You’re telling a Black man not to worry about proposed legislation to maintain white Christian control over others because that’s just too crazy for our republic? LK, you are better than that.

LK, try to think of a few times over the last 10-15 years where you underestimated Republican desire to grab power and you were correct.

The GOP is like Jefferson Starship when they did “we built this city”. Some dipshits liked it but everyone who knew better was all like WTF?

Jefferson Airplane/Starship had a better previous record than the GOP though. Undecided how to compare their attempted insurrections.

President Richard Nixon's daughter Tricia and Slick are both alumnae of Finch College, and Slick was invited to a tea party for the alumnae at the White House in 1969. She invited anarchist Abbie Hoffman to be her escort and planned to spike President Nixon's tea with 600 micrograms of LSD (an enormous amount), but the party had been billed as an "all ladies" event. Hoffman's presence in the waiting line immediately aroused the suspicions of White House security personnel; he claimed to be Slick's "bodyguard and escort", which failed to convince the security personnel, who told him that the event was "strictly for females". Hoffman then took out a black flag with a multicolored marijuana leaf and hung it on the White House gate. Slick declined to attend once Hoffman was denied entry, and the two ran across the street to a waiting car.[32][33] Slick later speculated that she received the invitation only because it was addressed to "Grace Wing" (her maiden name), and that she never would have been invited if the Nixons had known that she was Grace Slick.[34]

Lol. Don’t pretend that you don’t trust only the doctors who tell you what you want to hear. Or are you taking Dr. Ladapo’s advice now too?

This is so dumb. There has been pretty overwhelming consensus within the medical community throughout the pandemic. It has been a very small percentage of nut jobs that the rubes have clung to. What are the chances that those 6 doctors are on to something the rest of the medical community can’t see? How dumb or biased do you have to be to think that is not insane? Now matter how competitive you make medical school and no matter how good the education, you are still going to end up with a few shit doctors. Their presence doesn’t delegitimize the medical consensus. That they are such a tiny voice reinforces it.

Strawman said:
So no diversity then, and minority views don't count and are the losers. No surprise there.

I was unaware minorities were unable to win legislative or school board races or get appointed to/hired by Department of Education infrastructure. Thank you for showing me the light.

So says a man who believes that "liberal hegemony" among union teachers is brainwashing kids with a theory that's not being taught in schools on any widespread scale and whose party is passing voter fraud laws to prevent fraud that doesn't exist. Strawmen indeed. And given that these are minorities we're discussing, most of them aren't going to be elected to school board or legislative majorities in many states and areas, as you well know. The notion that people who have never taught in a school a day in their life should be able to dictate - not merely influence or "have a voice", but actually dictate - to teaching professionals what they can and cannot do in the classroom is about as perfect an illustration of the GOP's war on experts and expertise as you're likely to find, along with their war on medical professionals of course.

Tell me you have white privilege without telling me you have white privilege.

Tell me you have white privilege without telling me you have white privilege.

Anecdotal, but minority candidates have been pretty unsuccessful in legislative and school board races in my neck of the woods.

We tried that. The unions have proven that, on the whole, they can’t be trusted.

Republican key to fear mongering: simplify a problem and place all blame on a certain marginalized group.

Maybe the problem is due to lazy students sucking on the government test who need to bootstrap themselves to a better education.

I see Junebug has moved on the the gish gallop strategy of flooding the place with disingenuous bullshit. Maybe jh can show up with some Aztec chants to back him up.

Good to know though that as a libertarian Junebug doesn’t believe we should have public schools at all. Really helps discount his protestations and thin defenses that these book bans and CRT laws are actually helping education.

So republicans are talking about hegemony now

CRT brainwashing confirmed.

We did it, liberals!
