BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

Yeah with Chill starting and Neath, Wright Jr. and possibly Johnson around to back him up the team does not lack guard depth. If Hoard leaves for the NBA the team will have massive depth problems at the 4/5 spot. Massoud could play 4 but he is not exactly the strong banger type and we all know Sarr is weak in the paint. Backups would be Okeke and Ody, neither of which are ACC caliber players on their best day. If any additions are made in the Spring it needs to be bigs. Preferably bigs who can defend the post, get offensive rebounds, and have some weight on them. Of all the 2019 guys left that Wake has offered, Jason Jitoboh may be the best fit for that. Tre Mitchell would be better but no way he comes here. Also been doing a lot of research about Chol Marial and the only issue scaring teams away appears to be concerns over whether he will qualify academically, which appears to be a valid concern.

From his tapes and game play, Massoud is far closer to being a SG than a PF.

You don't have much use for a SS (shortstop) on the basketball court.

Massoud could be a SG, but Hoard should be a SF and Danny plays him at the 4 because there is no one else. Massoud being 6'9 would be a great mismatch to play him at the 2, but Danny didn't recruit enough guys at the 4 spot that can play in the ACC. I expect Massoud will be playing there by default unless Hoard stays. Either way he should be mismatch - too quick and skilled on the perimeter for 4s to guard him and too big for 2s to guard him. If he can find a way to successfully play defense on 2-4s in the ACC, Massoud will be a very good player for Wake.

Anthony Tucker anyone?

WF does add Andrien White a guard who averaged 15 ppg at Charlotte last year. He will be senior, but adds guard depth. While doubt he will get minutes, WF also brought in the walk-on munchkin from Rice who will be active next year.

I talked with someone who sees most of the practices, and he indicated that White would be a starter this year, if available.
