BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

Wait. Didn't Teague help ruin the program "culture" requiring the nuclear option to fix it? Why would they use him on the graphic?

Wake Forest made the top-12 for another top 30 guard.

You know what? It really would be our sad fucking luck as Wake fans for this being the year Manning actually *WOULD* land some real 5&4* breakthrough talent.
You know, the year he truly should be done after BUT he somehow lands two or three and we wind up with 2 to 3 more fucking years.

Well the fact is that so far Manning has shown us NO ability to coach up a team enough to win consistently regardless of how much talent or lack thereof he has. Until he actually does something with players that produce a winner, it is all moot who we get (up to a point anyway)

If you gave Manning a team of all 4/5 stars, I am sure we'd underachieve... But we wouldn't suck. Talent is important.

Luckily, we won't be landing any of these players... So we can just suck and hopefully move on ASAP.

How much of these offers to 5-stars that we have no business recruiting is just Danny being able to say that he's "doing his job" and upholding his end of the employment contract? The guy has to know they aren't coming here. It's easier to make flashy offers to 5-stars, and then offer a bunch of 2-stars who don't take much work, than it is to grind it out in the middle trying to convince Top 100 (or even Top 150) players to choose Wake over all of the other better options they have. He can say he tried and point to all of these 5-stars that he convinced to leave us in their lists and keep collecting checks without actually having to do the work of finding those players that could actually be built into a team to turn this thing around.

Wonder what Currie's take is on this by now, eh ?

He's got to know ... I mean, a few years ago I accused Manning of having no recruiting strategy period. Most coaches have an initial recruiting strategy and a recruiting plan that changes in year 3 and hopefully again in year 5. See Clawson (he is still in his year 3 strategy IMO, just with more analytics).

Manning - back then - identified under the radar 3 stars and offered and then hoped to keep them as many of their stock skyrocketed. When he lost them, he'd go back to those 3 star types, but those stock hadn't skyrocketed. We did keep some of those guys - like Brown, and stole guys like Collins. And then we scrambled to complete our roster with 2nd tier grad transfers.

It is hard to believe, but our recruiting strategy has become more fucockta since. The strategy now seems to be Dikembe Mutumbo-esque - Manning simply walks into a bar full of recruits and screams, "Who wants to play for Manning!?!" And whomever cocks their head gets an offer.
