Liberal ideology is about making that permanent underclass’ lives a little bit better. So yeah, maintaining in a different way.
 
I love that conservatives are perpetuating this idea that everything was just fine with our transportation system until Pete went on paternity leave and then like a day later the whole thing collapsed.

Perhaps your fundamental misunderstanding of conservative ideology is the problem here. Conservatives don't believe that it is the role of a central government to provide a quality of life to anyone. The foundational document is limited on its face to certain functions, not including serving as a provider. Conservatives believe there are other, more effective forces at work besides government.

Got to love how conservatives are so desperate to own the libs that they’ll complain government isn’t doing enough to solve problems free markets aren’t adequately addressing that they claim to think government can’t solve.

Any fundamental concept of “private property” as a right within a society requires regulation and law to uphold it, conservatives such as yourself make completely arbitrary distinctions as to which laws or regulations are necessary to society and which aren’t. The only type of governance that you consistently reject is redistributive welfare to the poorest. Basically you want private property, which requires legal validation and protection, but you don’t want to provide for the society that allows for the concept of private property. It’s no less selfish or lazy then living an unemployed life on the government dole - coveting all the benefits of a market economy without any responsibility to the people and resources that sustain that market.
