Bikers chase driver in NYC, beat him up in front of his wife and kid

LOL. At the 2:34 mark in the next to last video of the LiveLeak link, you can see cops blocking an intersection to let this stupidity through and less than a minute later, the guy is riding a wheeling into on-coming traffic and running straight through red lights without any police escort. Anyone still thinking the Range Rover guy should have just calmly wait on the cops to come help him?

The biker who started the whole thing by brake checking the Range Rover has been arrested. Additional info:

Authorities believe some of the bikers belong to a gang known as Hollywood Stuntz. They said the motorcyclists were part of a planned but unauthorized event in which hundreds of riders gathered outside of Manhattan, with the intent of driving into Times Square en masse.
 
Kickball, now that dash is pregnant with your kid, how would you have handled this situation if you guys were rolling down Silas Creek Pkwy and some asshole on a crotch rocket started giving you the business while your beautiful bride and unborn bundle of joy were riding shotgun?
 
They're already demonizing the driver of the SUV for being a banker and drivng a range Rover, i.e. privileged rich guy terrorizing the minority community. And yes I realize the driver is also a minority, but since Asians generally kick every other demographic group's ass in education, income, achievement, etc. they don't count. And God help him if it turns out he's half white.
 
heard on a radioshow this morning there is an online donation site for the guy that got run over... not so much in the way of donations.
 
yea the guy is from Mass. I guess his family is saying he was an innocent bystander and wasnt doing any of the stupid shit that got them all run over
 
Really? If he helped corral the Rover and then stopped there blocking its escape, he's complicit in the whole thing.

Meanwhile, biker Edwin Mieses, an aspiring rapper from outside Boston, was in a medically induced coma Tuesday with crushed legs and serious internal injuries as a result of being run over by the SUV.

“There’s no hope for his back,” said his wife, Dayana Mejia-Meises. “They crushed his spine — broke it in two different places — so he will be forever, forever paralyzed.”

Mieses was hurt in the road rage incident Sunday afternoon as hundreds of stunt bikers led an unauthorized rally.

Mejia-Mieses said her husband got off his motorcycle to help a fellow biker who was hit in the initial collision.

“When all the bikers stopped, my husband got out, parked his bike to walk over to try to help his friend. He walked over towards the front of the vehicle when, at this point, I don’t know what happened the man was scared, the man just peeled off and ran over my husband,” she told WBZ-TV.

Mieses said her husband has injuries to his heart, lungs and ribs and that he is paralyzed from the waist down. The couple has two children, ages 15 and 9.

“That man paralyzed my husband,” Mieses said about Lien. “He needs to pay for what he did.”

But Mejia-Mieses said the fact that he Lien has not been held accountable is a travesty.

“What’s more annoying is that he’s getting away with it,” Mejia-Mieses said. “What’s more annoying is that everyone is trying to blame the bikers for something that he did.”

But on Tuesday, Commissioner Kelly held open the possibility that Lien might be charged.

“You have to look at the totality of the circumstances and that’s what we’re doing,” Kelly said.

Kelly said the video is invaluable evidence of helping them sort through a complex set of actions and reactions.

Police said the bikers were part of a group called the “Hollywood Stuntz.” This was apparently part of an annual ride designed to draw attention and make it into Times Square.

“This is a major stunt event where motorcyclists from various locations come together,” Kelly said. “Quite frankly it wasn’t on anybody’s radar screen last year. We were aware of it this year.”

As 1010 WINS’ Carol D’Auria reported, Kelly said Tuesday that the bikers caused other problems besides the road rage incident. A total of 200 people complained to police Sunday that the bikers were being reckless on Manhattan streets, Kelly said.

The cyclists caused plenty of problems last year too, Kelly said.

“Last year, they came over 1,000 cyclists to be somewhat disruptive,” Kelly said. “They rode on the sidewalk – that sort of thing.”

i think the nypd had to make a statement that they would look in to pressing charges, doubt that they do.
 
No fault for the driver from what the video shows. I would have got the heck out of there as well.

They'd be morons to press charges. They'd find themselves in court for sure, at the hands of the Range Rover's driver and many other citizens who may have had their cars scratched, property torn up, etc. There's almost an hour of helmet cam video posted on LiveLeak and, despite hundreds of complaints to 911, the only police presence in the videos are a couple cops waving bikes through an intersection, followed up by the same bikes riding over sidewalks, riding wheelies into on-coming traffic and driving straight through red lights without a police wave through less than a minute later. Based on the quotes below, it was known that these guys were trouble and the cops did nothing to put a stop to it. Tons of bikes without tags, DOT required lights, helmets, etc.
