BillBrasky Memorial Political Chat Thread

How about we just called DSA-types, progressives? Form the Progressive Caucus or something like that. It is a very popular term with a proud history.

When I'm asked my "political ideology" that's how I generally answer.

Nah we can take it back. Shitlibs don't have the stones to be real progressives. Nothing progressive about being Wall Street's bought-and-paid-for little bitch. Retaking the term progressive shouldn't be that difficult with the right messaging. Hell we might even trick some of the Pelosi's of the world to get on board with our "progressive agenda".

I recommend they switch to "Bull Moose." It has a nice historical reference to one of the most progressive presidents in history, who abandoned his main stream political party when they abandoned good policies supporting working people, race relations and natural resource conservation in favor of Wall Street and wealth.

Sure it is right now, which is why we need to reclaim it. Its also 100% idiot proof, which you know if kind of important with our ever-stupefying population.

Also while we're at it can US Soccer fans reclaim "Don't Tread on Me" and our dope snake flag back from the Tea Party whackos? I'm still pissed about that. Seems like they're mostly full Q-Anon now and don't use it anymore.

Like “socialism?” It’s almost as if there are politicians and a media ecosystem that deliberate middle political discourse.

I see what you are saying. And media and even politicians like AOC and Bernie muddle public discourse around the definition of socialism. But i still think “socialist” has a more limited definition than “progressive.”

progressive, liberal, left -- even socialist -- are slippery terms just like conservative, neoliberal, moderate

renaming may re-stake your position, but you'll have to do it again in ten years

No I mean the Democrats whose political campaigns are literally bankrolled by Wall Street. Those bitches. The ones who prevent us from having a halfway decent progressive tax system.

Now if those same people can turn around and vote to raise top end income taxes back to a respectable level, as well as to end capital gains and other tax loopholes, then more power to them. I will stop calling them bitches.

That’s fair. I work in the finance sector and a lot of the tax code and what’s allowed doesn’t make much sense to me
