Brexit

And just think, we could be saying the same thing in November!

Not that they're related in a causal sense... as in this has no predictive power on the US presidential election, polls had this closer than common sense wanted to accept. But it is similar in a scary way to the forces driving Trump's popularity.

This will be disastrous. They won't be able to negotiate terms as favorable the ones they just said "fuck you" to. The vote was entirely based on ethnic backlash and they're going to eat it economically at least for the next several years.

Yep. This seems like going through a messy divorce and negotiating an FWB setup with your ex.

Yep. This and Trump are fueled by a fear of difference. At a time when we need to accept and address difference, folks are running from it and trying to wrap themselves in the false blanket of nationalism. It might make them feel better for a little while. But it won't solve any of the problems that spawned it.

This is insane. Won't be surprised to see Scotland and Northern Ireland both vote to leave.

Mostly the olds pining for the past.

so old people and a few young dumb braskyragers?

Nobody has a clue how this will all play out. That's what makes it fascinating.

Huge volatility coming over the rest of the year... Will at least make my job interesting during what are usually brutally slow summer months.

Oh, and it's absolutely great news for Trump supporters for a number of reasons.

Fear of difference - in Europe the migrant problem (which is actually more complicated) - is only one of the two major reasons for Brexit. The other is fear of losing control to unaccountable, currently grossly incompetent, distant, and excessively bureaucratized Brussels, or in other words, the fear of gradually ceding local control.

The fears are real and the elites have done a very poor job of dealing with them.

Yup. No wonder Bob2 is so gleeful that the pound is falling off a cliff. Eff the economy, which likely comes with a corresponding job loss. Make the US and UK White Again.

The Donald is giving a speech in Scotland today to address the brexit. Will be interesting.

It's like looking into the future as a warning of what the economy will do if Trump wins, it may correct but the market will plummet that day.
