Car inventory, new and used is really low right now. I'm assuming that's their motivation.

Your boy actually just bought his first new car yesterday, which is why I know that information. A 2021 Toyota RAV-4 Hybrid. I'm loving it. Also how did I exist before Apple Carplay?

I got a 2021 Ford Escape hybrid last week. I love it so far. About 40% of my driving is all electric and I’m getting about 45 mpg. I’ve been waiting 8 months for the Plug in hybrid version to come out but they just keep delaying production.

I tried to talk him down on the price and the guy just laughed at me and said, ‘Our inventory is so low I could sell this car tomorrow for 20% over the sticker price so we are not negotiating on prices right now.’

Hopefully yours does better than our 2017 Escape. Wasn’t even paid off yet — woulda been in Sept of this year. Needed a new engine last year just outside of the 60k powertrain warranty. $8000 repair on a KBB $12,000 car. The 2013-15s were recalled for same issue but the head service guy at the dealer said he had 4 2017s in his shop waiting on new engines. Said they had plenty of service bulletins on it but no recall yet. Traded it in for an Outback.

Shit.

I traded in my 2011 outback w/ 147K miles. I needed new tires, a new oxygen sensor on the fuel line, the seal on my gas tank was dying and needed a new battery cable, all for about $1500 on a KBB $2500 car, so it was time to switch out. That was a good car though. My real plan is drive this Ford for 3-4 years and then go all electric. The dealer did include an extended 100k drive train warranty on the vehicle for about ~$1000. It was something I could not opt out of, but, I'm thinking that would cover your troubles.
