Country Music Discussion Thread

Because it is 10am in the morning and i am still hammered drunk from last night, whilst having successfully navigated a two hour work call....

Now off to meet a chick for brunch and keep this buzz going, before I head to Kiawa to play the ocean course. 'Merica.

Workingman's is definitely a country album. Just has the Dead weirdness to go along with it. Steel guitar, classic country riffs, lyrical themes and everything.

Maybe your right, love that album, never really thought about like that.

Billy Currington has a ton of songs that you don't remember until they come on and you're like "shit that's him too???".

That's so awesome. Seeing a show at the Ryman is on my bucket list and that would have been a great one.

I'm biased, but y'all should def check out Brothers Osborne. Two legit brothers from Deale, MD who listen and emulate The Band/Allmans in their performance as much as they do Haggard and Willie - and John Osborne is as good as any guitar player I have ever seen.

Current Single - "It Ain't My Fault" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyOGVk_ypnM

Last Year's Song of the Year (per ASCAP) - "Stay A Little Longer" https://youtu.be/zY6cMMtLCcQ (single version/official video)
Here's a link to the extended version with the full guitar solo: https://open.spotify.com/album/35Xy4nfPeJxythKy00E0Vq

And that Stapleton guy is pretty damn good - new album coming soon.

If you're into the newer, more 'pop' country stuff, check out Ryan Hurd - he has a few tracks up on Spotify and is working to finish his first album for Sony Nashville. Maren's beau.

Listening to Whiskeytown's Pneumonia album, and it is pretty damn good. Whiskeytown, much like water, is super under rated iMO.

Seems like Whiskeytown is pretty well established as iconic / legendary in the Americana world. Under rated is not really what comes to mind when I think of them. All 3 full length albums are classic. Glad I got to see them live before their demise.

Honestly I have been hearing the same argument about water, and I am not buying it.

Thinking about trying to catch Valerie June at her show here in February.

Right on!

Love it. Ran into 21 summer. A song I have loved but didn't know the band. Gracias mi amigo

Saw Brothers Osbourne in concert at a small-ish venue last January-- they were great. Def check them out if you can!

Also would second the Ryan Hurd recommendation, as well as Luke Combs. Loving his song Hurricane.

That was Kenny Chesney next to Robert Craft in the box they kept showing during the Super Bowl, right? It looked just like him but I have no idea why he would be there with Kraft and Kraft's kid.
