All I'm saying is that when you see homeless people under a roof with access to books and computers and you immediately try to figure out what it costs, your priorities may be misaligned. Especially when that view ignores all of the other benefits of libraries noted supra.

our library has a group of homeless guys that sort of hang there during the day but they seem to stay in their zone and not bother anyone, from what i can tell, nor are they using computers for porn or whatever fox news claims. except the area they hang in is right where the library houses all its TTRPG materials.

and the library/Cumberland county linked systrem (5 libraries) is pretty strong, they're all used for all sorts of community events; definitely a community hub throughout the year, kids or no kids, though the kid room/resources are great.

i guess it depends who's running the library system in town

If Biff was advocating that we re-allocate resources from building libraries to housing homeless people, this might be a conversation worth taking seriously.

But I assume he’d prefer the money to not be spent on either of those things

If you want to build a big homeless shelter, do that. It's way cheaper than a library.
or hear me out, build a library and then just let anyone come use it. if some homeless people get to use a clean bathroom and have a warm place to sit, is that a bad outcome assuming you're going to have a library?

how would you propose to solve this issue? Present a W-2 or a deed to a home for admission to the library? or should we just keep everyone out who smells?

Chris Paul catching a stray from the CEO of a company that laid off a tech co.

.

That was painful to watch. I guess she can go to her local library now and use the computer to update her resume and the printer to print new ones. What a nice resource she has access to. Its nice when taxes go to things that the local community can use, like parks, playgrounds and libraries, and not Defense budgets.

This dude's mom said last night that she often wondered why the homeless don't have family that can help them but now she gets it. There needs to be a system in place where impartial social workers or loved ones can force someone to do something against their will that is good for either them or society at large. Has ending Britney Spears conservatorship seemed like a good idea?
