Biden was in Durham yesterday, pretty sure they just went from landing at RDU to a factory in RTP and then back to the airport
Yeah, I left the office early yesterday and the eastbound lanes of 40 from 147 to RDU and the 540 exits on 40 were completely shutdown. Traffic on the southbound lanes of 147 was backed up from 40 all the way to Briggs. Very glad I was heading in the other direction.

ChatGPT is still several iterations away from being a decent casting director.

There are many talented actors who could potentially portray Warren Zevon in a movie, but ultimately it would depend on the specific direction and tone of the film. Here are a few actors who could potentially fit the role:

Johnny Depp - Depp has a talent for playing eccentric and unconventional characters, which would be fitting for a film about Zevon.

Bill Hader - Hader has shown his dramatic range in recent years, and his comedic background could bring a unique energy to the role of Zevon.

Ethan Hawke - Hawke has experience playing musicians in films like "Born to Be Blue" and "Blaze," and his intensity and charisma could make for a compelling portrayal of Zevon.

Paul Giamatti - Giamatti is a versatile actor who could bring depth and nuance to the role of Zevon.

Ultimately, the casting decision would depend on the vision of the filmmakers and their interpretation of Zevon's life and legacy.

broccoli is an underrated pizza topping

I know it's a joke from Inside Out, but there was a bread place down the street from where I lived in SF that did pizza on Wednesdays (just one type with pre-selected toppings) that turned out some BOMB Broccoli pizza. OFC their crust was so good they could put anything on suh and it would be fucking delicious.

At our very very nice dinner the other night they asked about dietary restrictions and we said none. First dish was a couple of preparations of shashimi that had cilantro on them.

I get umami from certain mushrooms but not all. I don’t think you’re going to get it from your basic white mushroom.
oof, i mistyped -- cilantro does not taste like soap to me, but I was referencing how it did for some people

i can't think of any mushroom that's hit the umami spot -- I still eat mushrooms, but they're never my first choice

@RedSoxFaithful who is your favorite Red Sox player of all time?

hmm. as a kid it was definitely Nomar, then Pedro. probs Pedro still now.

Wakefield is also in the mix-- I have a special edition 2004 WS jersey of his but I think I got a stain on it at some point :(

Trot Nixon will always be important for me... My parents didn't really watch baseball at all growing up; I played some Ken Griffey Jr Slugfest on N64, I remember watching some of the Sox/Indians ALCS in '97 at a restaurant with my friend's family, I remember loosely following the McGwire/Sosa race in '98. But the first full game I ever watched was a Pedro/Clemens matchup in 2000 (I was 10) because the local news was hyping it up. Got real lucky that game ended up being so good, a pitchers duel that was scoreless until Nixon hit a 2 run shot with two outs in the 9th. That game made me a baseball fan, and by the end of that season I was consuming any baseball content I could get my hands on.

There are a lot of other bit players over the years that I've reminded myself of just now who I loved as a kid. Julian Tavarez for being an angry lunatic, Rich Garces for being El Guapo, Mike Tomlin for using "Black Betty" as his entrance music, pretty much the entire 2007 team, Todd Walker because I can for some reason remember the exact time and place I was when it was announced Boston had signed him, Doug Mirabelli because of the time the Sox had to panic trade back for him when they realized nobody else in the world could catch Wakefield.

This has probably been way more thought than anybody reasonably wanted from me on this but-- sincerely-- thanks for forcing me down memory lane this morning. I miss baseball.

Get you some duxelle

I do not know how to respond to this.
I'm not saying it's top tier or anything, but if there's a veggie pizza (most often in a situation where someone's ordered a spread for an event) and it's got broccoli, I'm defs grabbing a couple slices

Had a Zoom therapy appointment with my son from 8-9 then took him in to daycare. My laptop died right at the end but when I got to work our office area is closed for an hour because a crane is doing some work overhead. And of course my laptop cord is at home since I just use a dock in the office. I normally WFH on Weds but am meeting my mom for lunch near here. So now I’m chilling in our taproom on my phone.

The occasionally have shaved Brussels sprouts as a pizza topping here and it’s p good. Had one with that and pork belly the other day.

Nah this what I was kind of hoping for.

I have a 2004 Big Papi World Series jersey with a buffalo wing stain on the front of it. Pedro and Nomar are probably the most common answers. I also remember the police escort Doug Mirabelli got from the airport so he could make it in time to catch for Wake. Papelbon may have been my answer at one point, his entrance to Shipping Up To Boston was pretty epic.

I was thinking about it this morning and I settled on Pedroia, the dirt dog. Big Papi is a possible backup, he was great, I remember the trade from Minnesota thinking what is this guy gonna do.

None of the guys on the roster this season have that kind of flair or personality, kind of depressing.

got an offer from the electricity company for a heavily discounted dehumidifier

does anybody use one?

I was approved for global entry before I even got back to my car.
This sounds right. Got my appointment at CLT reasonably quickly and when I got there the only question they asked was if I had any questions. Took maybe 5 mins including the fingerprinting.

My favorite pizza place has a few Brussel sprout pizzas. One of my favorites is a white cheese pizza with Brussel sprouts and pistachios.
