Curt Schilling is awesome

fair enough. But being a polarizing celebrity and posting something to the entire world (not a tiny anonymous members-only message board ph) and then getting butthurt that a bunch of dorks who spend their entire day jerking off to fisting porn and flaming random people on the internet were vile and disgusting seems pretty fucking stupid to me.

Just tell your friends and family that she got the scholarship and enjoy it as a family. Now it has been sullied for no quantifiable gain. What did he expect to gain from posting such a thing to the world?

His Tweet was a simple congratulations to his daughter that contained no hashtags. Why even Tweet if you can't share good news with your followers?

because your followers are a bunch of know-nothing pieces of trash who hurt your family's feelings and force you to take revenge?

choose your forum wisely. look what happened.

If it is going to hurt your daughter when the fisting-porn aficionados ring in, you might be in over your head with Twitter.

Yeah, I guess that's one of the things I don't understand about Twitter. Why follow Schilling if you don't like the guy. I'm not adding Coach K, [Redacted], Ol' Roy, Justin Bieber, etc. to my Twitter feed.

Yeah I get the attractiveness of a piece of technology that lets you post to the world. On paper it is amazing and mindblowing. But the world is shitty. People are major fucking assholes. Its better to choose who you share your family's precious moments with.

Can't you set that thing to be private so only the people you allow to follow you see your shit?

so, your post above mine was to say what, then? another version of "what do you expect, it's the internet" ?

A wise teacher once told me: If you are going to put your head above the crowd, be prepared to have it knocked off.

sure, but that doesn't mean if someone tries to knock it off we shouldn't respond.

Hope Jimmy Kimmel has reached out to Schilling to ask him to be on the next Celebrities Read Mean Tweets.

respond for what? good luck telling the internet not to be a meanie. Let us know how that works out.

Meanwhile I will filter my internet activity wisely and, when I do decide to stick my head up above the crowd, I won't go crying and stomping my feet when some fat fuck in his mom's basement flames me. :noidea:

i mean, those guys raised their heads up and were demolished. schilling played by the rules of the game. not sure what the problem is.

I don't have a problem. He apparently did with the reaction to his tweet and had to go and avenge it.

It's funny as shit. Those asshats got what they deserved. If more people thought there were real world consequences to the ridiculous shit they say, maybe they wouldn't say them. It's not like they were just talking shit about his daughter. They were talking shit to him about his daughter. They're lucky he isn't true Philly or else they would've woken up at the bottom of a river somewhere with some concrete boots.

Agreed. I think it's hilarious. If you're going to post vile things like that, be ready to deal with any consequences.

I agree with that too, those assholes too.

All this just to post that on twitter. Sounds like a real rockin good time

If I stand on the corner of madison and wacker and hand out flyers about my daughter's scholarship and people decide to follow me down the street and then a couple of perverts say disgusting shit then I should be incredulous and spend a bunch of energy and time pursuing them?

Why not just stay home?

is that really how you see this situation?

if you were cheering at your daughter's soccer game and a couple guys started saying that stuff would just shrug your shoulders and go "welp, that's what happens when you cheer at a public event!"

Actually, not many perverts would be dumb enough to fuck with a guy who's standing on a street corner and handing out fliers about his daughter's scholarship. Those perverts know the same thing the rest of us know: That guy's "daughter" is a pile of rancid squirrel meat with a smiley face drawn on it in human feces.

If you choose to follow somebody on Twitter, you are following their life. What's the difference between that and friending somebody on Facebook who also posts shit about their day to day life? That he is a public figure does not matter. Twitter gives these fools the option to connect with famous people, to be cyber jock sniffers. That doesn't give them the right to be asshats. Somebody handing out flyers about his life is just a fucking weirdo.

That a a terrible analogy. Apples to oranges. Be better at this.

Good plan, quiche boy.

how so is that worse than the guy with fliers? Schilling was tweeting it to his followers, so people he (nominally, as a "celeb") associates with who choose to follow him. It's not like he took a banner ad out on ESPN.com or a page of the WSJ
