Danny Manning Relishing New Life, Challenge of Resurrecting Wake Forest

(Thomas later reveals that Manning instructs the Demon Deacons to foul him forcefully each time he touches the ball during practice. If Thomas responds violently or even hints that he's frustrated, Manning makes him run.

"Even if a guy nearly takes my head off, I can't say anything," Thomas says. "I've learned how to control my temper. I've never had a coach challenge me the way that he does.")

This passage is awesome. I can't imagine Bz doing that.

It's funny, though, because Ron was plenty eloquent when it came to sticking up for [Redacted]. And that dude had no credibility on or off of the court.

If that's how the public face of Wake Forest athletics says "Manning isn't just reputation, he is a good coach too," then we're in trouble because that's not what he said. Danny has accomplished more as a coach of Wake Forest in six months than [Redacted] did in four years. He's definitely performing.

Amen to that statement!

I would not be surprised if Wellman regrets letting Bz go because Bz had a winning record last year and it is unlikely Manning will have one this year. He probably thinks Bz would have 20+ wins and an NIT bid with this team.

Completely plausible and that's why PE teachers from Bowling Green shouldn't be put in charge of evaluating basketball coaches.

CMM, Devin, Cav, Moto is a pretty serviceable junior core. But I doubt we would have seen the growth in MJ, CMM, and Devin that we've seen this year.

And we wouldn't have the three point shooters we have.

Yeah. I was agreeing with you.

I would've loved to have kept Moto and escorted out our portly guard in the off-season. I think it would have been entirely justified to hasten the departure of a borderline ACC player who couldn't even bother to get into shape. It may have been a moot point if Moto was stuck on wanting to play the 3 but I think he would have made a difference in the W/L column.

Just saw a headline on Yahoo Sports 'Manning preparing as if he'll return'.

I thought, of course, why wouldn't he return? He's just getting started.
......then I realized the article was about Peyton Manning.

Saw a promo for an upcoming wake game on fox sports south this weekend, and damn if fucking jeff [Redacted] wasn't shown on the promo when they showed the coaches. I wanted to throw up right there in the middle of the restaurant!

"...the private school with approximately 8,000 students" Since when do we have 8,000 students?

My unsolicited prediction: Manning will outlast Wellman at Wake.
