F is for Fascism (Ferguson MO)

It seems like alot of these negative interactions with police can be averted if you didn't yell fuck you at the cops and refuse their orders.
While definitely true, I find myself wondering if there isn't a better way. What if we saw leadership decisions similar to the sheriff in Flint across the country?

Most of the imagery from these protests involve police showing up outfitted to the nines and positioned as adversaries. No wonder people wanna yell fuck you in their faces.

I'm probably being naive but not seeing nearly enough solidarity that could be used to diffuse the anger. And those dudes on the front line are just doing what their leaders are telling them to do.

Its almost like de-escalation isn't in the playbook.

On the other hand, we're seeing way too many situations where it appears that big city police departments in riot gear have the same discipline as the thug security guards you used to see at Grateful Dead concerts at summer Stadium shows.

I'm sure there are plenty of cops on a power trip out there, I mean the profession attracts that type. But you affect change through electing leaders promoting change. Directly challenging the rank and file will accomplish absolutely nothing.

The Chief of Police in Camden, NJ marched with the protesters.

This. What if cops weren't trained to be armored assholes? Hell, it would be progress if these protesters got the same escort treatment that KKK parades and white supremacist protests get.

That dude in Dallas with the machete. What was he thinking? Yikes.

Exactly. I saw a sympathetic headline that was something like "Dallas store owner attacked with ROCKS" or something. This MF had a sword!

*Cop kneels on neck*
Suffocating man: I vote you out, sir!

He did it to protect a bar:

Wth was this dude thinking?!

The boomer who thought he was Legolas in Utah is still the clubhouse leader for stupid. He yelled "all lives matter" then aimed his bow at a black man. Got his ass beat and his car engulfed in flames.

So he wasn't even protecting his business. He was protecting a bar by brandishing a sword. A bar. That's not even his bar.

Short compilation of bully cops. So easy to see how they get off on beating up people who are severely disincentivized from fighting back.

just from what was posted on this thread, a lot of people who didn't yell fuck you at the cops were the victims of state violence last night.

How about the innocent shop owners who are being looted in Santa Monica and others places away from any protests?

How does this do anything by harm the situation?

seems like it's starting a pretty fucking powerful conversation about the problem though.

Junebug believes in the unquestioned power of the state to physically abuse people. You can’t expect a cop not to fuck someone up.

The idea that violent means must necessarily result in violent ends is absurd.

It's not hard to imagine a lot of people watching the violence deployed in their cities and communities this week and finally being motivated to get involved in local politics. I'm not saying it's all going to go that way, but stop pretending that violence can't be productive. Hell, I'm definitely a lot more interested in my local Citizen Police Review Board now.

Some people need cathartic action to motivate them to actually move them toward democratic politics. What they don't need are cops pulling them out of their cars or maiming them to protect property.

I’d suggest you sit out any discussion involving race relations.
