FBI tapping all Verizon calls

It's necessary because of your asinine first response, which was to blame Bush.

He didn't blame Bush. He blamed everybody...Bush, Obama, and a Bi-Partisan Congress. And I agree...this is on EVERYBODY in DC, so let's stop the catty bullshit.

Fear mongering gets things done in America.

I understand 3000 people died in NYC and DC that day, but goddamn. :rulz:

I'm already off Facebook. Guess I'll just use my cell phone for innocuous calls and make my weed deals in person only until its legal.

I bet you could find a job in CO or WA. Pot is legal in each place.

And don't forget the SCOTUS says its cool to set up a DNA database from birth. Aldous Huxley would be proud.

Meh, I've assumed they've been doing this for years anyway. I think Obama is a hack for a lot of reasons, but this one is relatively low on the list. The government already does a lot of things that in theory it shouldn't be doing in a free society.

This is somewhat similar to the racist war on drugs thread; if you aren't doing anything illegal then who cares? If you are doing something illegal then you don't have much ground to stand on to complain. If some dipshit in Utah wants to listen to me criticizing [Redacted] on the phone to anyone who will listen, then whoop-dee-damn-doo, have at it.

Meet the new boss...same as the old boss.

Just like Republicans are full of shit when they talk about fiscal conservativeism so are Democrats when they talk about civil liberties. Fucking hypocrites...all of them.

The worst part is that both parties are so craven and beholden to special interests that neither will take the lead on putting more sensible laws in place because they know the other side with crucify them following another terrorist attack. There has to be a sensible middle ground between civil liberties and safety, but none of these clowns are willing to work together to find it.

Just don't say [Redacted] "really bombed that game" or have any friends who regularly travel to the middle east, or friends who have relatives or friends that regularly travel to the middle east. Or China.

It's hilarious to me how this board thinks the Obama administration's overly aggressive and misleading interpretation of section 215 has become a referendum on ... all of us.

Again, posters are pointing at the Gov't as a whole, not a single Administration. However, this Administration did renew and expand the Patriot Act, so they're more culpable than the last, IMO.

Do I have to stop watching porn on the internet now? Damn it.

How about all those soldiers who have died to "protect our freedom"?

The section being used to justify this, however, is from the original version of the act. But just to be clear: point finger at Bush- not okay. Point finger at Obama- okay. #junebuglogic

94 - I interpreted your original post to point the main blame at Bush and the Republicans in congress. If I misunderstood I apologize. I agree with you 100% that the blame is spread evenly with both parties. Bush for signing, bi partisan legislators for creating it, and the current government for continuing and expanding on it. Obama could come out against this and get it stopped, but he doesn't. Bush obviously was in favor of it.

More proof of the linkage of W and Obama as brothers from another mother. The similarities when it comes to government over-reach are frightening. It is so odd to me that Obama pretty much ran both of his campaigns to the tune of 'I am not W', and then crafts his administration to look very much like the guy.
