First Charges Filed in Mueller Investigation

Money laundering through various American and Russian companies.

Guys involved work for Trump.

Trump properties routinely sold to American and foreign corporations for extravagant profits.

Trump scared like a little bitch to piss off Russians.

Guys get busted and plead guilty and start to sing.

Nah, just coincidences, these are good guys who want to make America great.

Manafort is probably going to die in prison, so that’s a win.

Hey look over there at fantastic conspiracy theories about Hillary Clinton!

Remember when some posters mocked anyone who said that members of Trump's campaign would end up in jail?

"According to a person familiar with those talks, Gates, a longtime political consultant, can expect "a substantial reduction in his sentence'' if he fully cooperates with the investigation. He said that Gates is apt to serve about 18 months in prison."

This is also interesting:

The same individual said he did not believe Gates has information to offer Mueller's team that would "turn the screws on Trump.'' The president has repeatedly called the special counsel's investigation a "witch hunt.''

Yeah, but his flipping might make Manafort flip and he could have dirt on Trump. I honestly doubt it though and think Manafort is the end of that thread.

Agreed. Which goes back to Ben Wittes's comments yesterday about how no one has any idea how this investigation will end. Certainly not anyone on this board even though we are all piecing together the evidence and forming our own opinions (some more informed/stronger than others).

Back to Manafort, if anyone knows "everything" it's either Manafort or Flynn (or both). Trump apologists like to claim Manafort was only the campaign manager for a few short months but they forget or don't know that:

A. He was the campaign manager (at this level you know everything)
B. Manafort was actually working on the campaign in an unofficial capacity for several months prior to officially joining
C. After he officially left the campaign (because it was disclosed that payments from the former Ukrainian ruling party flowed to Manafort), he continued to stay in contact with Trump and once again helped out in an unofficial capacity.
D. Manafort and Trump communicated throughout the transition

E. Have you read this Atlantic report on Manafort's career? The guy is crooked as fuck, has no moral compass and was up to his eyeballs in debt to a Russian oligarch prior to taking the Trump job. There is circumstantial evidence that Manafort was feeding Russia information in exchange for debt forgiveness.

Manafort and his lobbying firm epitomized the swamp.

Now it's certainly possible Manafort was the one pulling all of the strings in the overall effort to "collude" with the Russian government and Trump was left in the dark but I highly highly doubt it. Especially when you bring in all of the other touch points Trump's campaign had with Russia like the Trump tower meeting.

For anyone who hasn't read this article, put aside 20-30 minute tonight and read through it. It's fantastic reporting and you won't be disappointed.

I disagree with the premise of this article but it's a plausible scenario based on fact.
