GAME WEEK: Wake Forest vs. Belmont Abbey (exhibition)

Downtown Abbey shooting 50%, glad to see our defense has improved.

On the plus side, Li'l Chill is shooting 50% from deep. On the minus side, the rest of the team is shooting 0% from deep.

Out 3pt shooting and rebounding will likely be ugly.

BA has 18 fouls, will they have enough players to finish the game?

Sarr and Hoard in double digits at half is simply a good sign. These are two of our three post college talents. Can Sarr make a Moore like jump in year 2? Took Moore til year 3. Asking for Collins year 2 seems insane so I won't.

I will be more surprised if Sarr shoots 70% on FTs than if he shoots 80%.

Brandon played about 18 minutes and only had 2 assists. That's not great.

Belmont a carefully, well-chosen opponent. Halftime score OK, but lacking in assists and 3-point shooting. Looks like Junior Bilas and Van Horn get action in 2nd half.

55-38 at half. Can’t be good to give up 38 points in a half to a D2 opponent.

Stats look fantastic. Poor 3 point shooting but +15 in rebounds. We had 10 offensive rebounds to their 14 total boards.

6 assists in 15 FGs is a good number for us as well. 8 TOs against inferior competition is not good.

However, for us to even sniff the post season, we need Brown, Sarr, and Hoard to be top tier ACC players. 9, 11, and 13 points for them in one half is a helluva start. It seems like Wright is going to be an extremely important player now as well with Lewis seemingly out at least until January. Looking forward to seeing them play on the interweb in their opener.

Other interesting stats. Belmont with 6 PLAYERS with 3 fouls. Wake has Wright and Mucius with 3.

Following statcast, it appears that turnovers and dumb fouls earn bench time. Who would have thought?

Wright is running the pt, BC working mostly off the ball.

Danny riding Hoard pretty goid about some effort plays and defense. Not cutting him slack reminding that all facets of the game impact performance. He gas been pulling guys for defensive lapses.

Wright and Mucious are nice looking recruits with a lot of upside. Mucious needs a year in the weight room though.

Hoard looks like a one and done Duke recruit. He has it all.
