Oh, and Allen is still decidedly average. Henderson had a very good season, but was found out at the World Cup this summer as not that good -- best of luck with him in the Champions League. But yes, he did much better for Liverpool last season than I thought he would have. I will readily admit that I was wrong about that.
If you didn't figure out that the difference between LFC and England was down to management, then I really overestimated you which is pretty hard to imagine. Hell, Hodgson actually managed Liverpool! It's not even like you have to imagine what it would have been like...it happened! The way Hodgson played Henderson you might as well put him in shackles. Just stupid. But those of us that were paying attention were absolutely sure that was going to happen because that's what Hodgson does. Amazingly, the central defense was so bad that not even this helped them. I guess there's a reason why the only positions LFC don't have English players is CB -- top 4 guys all foreign, not looking like that's gonna change either. Pretty much he should have just copied Rodgers -- tough to imagine them a better way than that. Just plug Rooney in for a lacking but passable facsimile of Suarez, and Lallana in the midfield and there you are. But Hodgson would sooner lose than play aggressively.
I also laughed at the Downing, Aspas, Carroll, and Adam signings. Then after watching Coates twice I said he was shit. I also recall saying that Mignolet was good, but no improvement over Pepe Reina as he makes lots of mistakes on crosses.
Coates wasn't shit, he was young and then injured. Doubt he's going to fit into the way Rodgers wants to play, but for another side he could still be quite good. Mignolet made fewer mistakes than Reina in shot stopping which is the top job of a keeper. No one is sorry about that exchange. I've already talked about how the Carroll exchange worked out just fine. Downing had one terrible and one pretty decent season at Liverpool. With his ability to play left or right I wonder if Rodgers didn't give up on him too quickly like he tried to with a couple of others before wisely reconsidering. Aspas never really got a chance because of how dominant Suarez and Sturridge were. Adam is just too slow to play for Rodgers despite having some other good qualities.
Full story, I said that the Sturridge and Coutinho signings were excellent, and really liked y'all signing Jose Enrique. 2 right, 1 wrong there. Also liked the Sakho signing, he was hit and miss last season, and I'm thinking I was wrong about that one, but jury still out.
LOL wut? Sakho is going to be fine. Not even close to worried...but it's funny how many ill-informed fans think he was bad because they remember him getting rattled in one game. Good in the air, good on the ground, built like a truck, runs well, good passer...not sure what's not to like.
Also thought that Jovanovic would realize his potential and really do well for Liverpool. I got that one wrong for sure. What a waste of talent.
