Ladies and gentleman...the worst human ever

The article mentioned something about being able to claim unemployment benefits. Anyone know the details of that?

If the employer had 15 employees, it's covered by the ADA. Assuming that's the case, she's got a great ADA claim.

Where's our resident right-wingers defending the doctor? "Small business, right to do (or not do) as he pleases, no right-to-work, Obamacare will destroy us all, etc."

No? No ten foot poles around?

Any chance she was hourly and letting her go in this manner was her only way to claim unemployment benefits? Granted, the manner in which it was done was pretty awful.

shitty situation, but what's he supposed to do other than maybe fire her face to face like a real man

That seems to be what's hinted at in the article. Still, if he handles this the right way, it doesn't make national media. Like have a nice, long, face-to-face and talk about the options and situations. He just has to remember that in the grand scheme of things, the needs of his office kind of really do take a back seat to supporting his employee.

Is firing someone honestly an option for a company where an employee has cancer? I was expecting to open the article and read about her filing a lawsuit.
