• Welcome to OGBoards 10.0, keep in mind that we will be making LOTS of changes to smooth out the experience here and make it as close as possible functionally to the old software, but feel free to drop suggestions or requests in the Tech Support subforum!

LOL

I mean, this is just completely classless, regardless of who it's directed at. Unsurprising that no one seemingly batted an eye. On any of the old boards, or when the OGBoards actually had mods, that would have certainly gotten the banhammer.

oh I have more class than most posters on this board, i can assure you. But, there are threads that go on for pages and pages accusing him of killing his father-in-law. Those are references to his IRL family and to a member who is actually deceased, and I don't recall seeing you fighting the good fight on those threads. not to mention Bob's daily racist rantings that would earn him as ass-whipping in real life. My little joke was a little virulent, but he is a filthy pariah go play golf

You are assuming either a uniform or a normal distribution of the ages. How at your age with your level of education do you not know that the mid point of a range of of numbers does not necessarily equal the average of some numbers in that age range?

LOL. Not interested in bullshit arguments whose only purpose is to create diversion. More of that "I have to show 'em that I have that WF intellectual superiority" coming out.

Translation bud is an idiot, so he's going to pull out the "elitist" argument. I bet he did learn more in the army than wake.

The irony is that...for most of the posters here, at least....when they are 45 & married with a family and financial obligations, they will be glad that they didn't get the government that they thought they wanted when they were 25.

I am 50, married w/ 2 adult age children, and all kinds of financial obligations.

In no way, shape, or form do I want the government you want. Now what?

Nothing superior about some pretty basic math. This is like 6th grade stuff, mean, median, mode, midpoint. Seriously, how do you not know that the average of a set of numbers bounded by 35 and 45 could be 36 or it could be 44? Didn’t you work is some sort of finance industry?

Pretty simple. You should continue voting for Democrats. Of course, you live in California, don't you? If that's the case, it really doesn't matter how you vote.

As I said, I'm not interested in playing that game.

You can’t be scolded for something that is true.

If you think that familiarity with some super basic math is elitism, I think that explains a lot about your world view. Thanks for providing that perspective.

Birdman I think that view probably is the majority for conservatives and their perceived hatred of “elites” knowing basic math is elite to them. The number of people that know the math skills you stated, mean, probability, mode, distribution, etc... are very low. Example, go to a casino, go to the roulette wheel, watch people’s confused and certainty of red black based off the number of times a color has been rolled in a row.

LOL, BKF gets proven wrong with facts and his retort is “no you’re wrong” while citing no facts. Perfect Trump supporter. See the SCOTUS thread for an addendum.

If the majority of Americans or even conservatives don’t know the difference between the mid point of a range of numbers and the average of a bunch of numbers within a specific range, the American education system is a complete fucking failure.

"The 2002 project also surveyed 18- to 24-year-olds in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Sweden, and Great Britain. The U.S. trailed every other country in that survey, except Mexico, which did only slightly worse...Even for U.S. geography, the survey results are just as dismal. Half could not find New York State on a map of the United States...Told they could escape an approaching hurricane by evacuating to the northwest, only two-thirds could indicate which way northwest is on a map..."

Our educational system has increasingly been geared toward training people to be employees who make wealthy people even more money. See Trump’s plan to combine the Departments of Education and Labor.

Look, all I did was say "OK you used 35 to 45, the average of those two numbers is 40. What percentage of board members do you think are 40+, married with children? Personally, I would guess less than 20%, etc."...or words to that effect. I never said anything that anything to do with all the stuff he was talking about. And I never said anything about whether or not the actual average of a group of people in the 35-45 range was 40. So he comes back with that bullshit and everyone wants to play got cha games. You people are pathetic. You're making a big fucking deal about nothing.

Nah man, just own it. You LOVE to rail on RJ or whomever for “little” (aka “nothing”, as you say) mistakes. You said it’s elitist to know basic math thereby moving the goalposts. I think the more underlying issue is that it undermines your premise of the populace of your board. But go on and tell us more about how liberals are the ones who distort.

The discussion had nothing to do with any of that. And I never said it was elitist to know basic math. You guys love lying about what someone else said. I just picked 40 because it was in the middle of the 35-45 range....just to have a place to ask what percentage of posters were 40+, married with children. Nobody was analyzing how many posters were in that range, what their ages were or any of that bullshit. And I never claimed any of that in my question. I just picked the number 40 and asked a question. Then, instead of answering that simple question all of you started playing gotcha games about something that wasn't even part of the discussion. What the hell did it...or does it...matter what the actual average age is of a group of 35-45 posters on the boards? This is what is elitist. You are trying to feign all this intelligence and laugh and say "look, this rube doesn't even know basic math"....about something that I wasn't claiming or even talking about. Do you honestly think I don't know the difference between mean, midpoint & average? I was a goddamned econ major, for heaven's sake.....but my post didn't have a goddamn thing to do with any of that. Maybe I should have said "midpoint" rather than average....but 40 is also the "average" of 35 & 45....and we didn't have any group of names to analyze to get an actual average or mean.
