Stanford takes another title back to The Farm

Guess the Vandy and Texas golf coaches are as crappy as our coach.

Well all you had to do was watch 10 minutes of the coverage and know that the rules Shorty states do not apply to coaching in college golf. Last night one of the Texas players and the coach were discussing a shot and specifically the club choice. In other words, you are still incorrect.

People that think golf today is anywhere near the same thing as it was in the 70's just don't know the landscape. 4.5 schollies vs basically unlimited back in the 70's. When we could have a Scott Hoch on the back burner on B team in 75 & 76 things are quite different then.
Literally no one has argued that golf is the same now as it was in the 70's. But that straw man doesn't fight back.
You have to begrudgingly respect Stanford's Athletic program. They seem to have the uncanny performance across all Sports to have teams with middling seeds and regular season performances step up and win the national championship.
those who traveled to Palo Alto to watch Jim Harbaugh get his revenge against the Deacs at 9:00 Pacific time will remember that even the club Ultimate Frisbee squad is highly regarded*
Stanford men's golf now has 9 titles, including 3 since WF last won one
*self-reported
Wake should have a rule not to play Stanford in any sport.

PERSPECTIVE:
Wake Forest head coach Jerry Haas was named a finalist for the national coach of the year in Division I men's golf. Coach Haas has coached WFU golfers for 22 years, and has lead WFU to 3 top-10 finishes in the NCAA’s. With Haas in charge of the men’s golf team, Wake Forest finished as high as 2nd in the ACC Two times and as high as 2nd in the NCAA One Time. Thus, under his tutelage, Wake has had 0 ACC and 0 NCAA Championships. http://godeacs.com/news/2019/5/24/mens-golf-jerry-haas-named-finalist-for-dave-williams-award.aspx

Under the Tutelage of Previous WF Men’s Golf Coach: Bones McKinney resigned as golf coach in 1960 to focus on basketball and Jesse Haddock was named as his successor. Coach Haddock coached WFU golfers for 30 years. With Haddock in charge of the men’s golf team, Wake Forest won 10 straight Atlantic Coast Conference championships from 1967 to 1976 and 15 ACC titles overall. Also, Coach Haddock led Wake Forest to 3 NCAA national titles in 1974, 1975 and 1986, and finished 2nd in the NCAA’s three times. Haddock retired in 1993.
I can only assume that folks are emotionally attached to the Haas name. His tenure just hasn't been that great. Certainly not good enough to have not tried something else a while ago. Without the Haas name, would he still be at Wake?
Much like Wellman, many supporters want to give him all the credit for isolated stand-out accomplishments while excusing larger systemic failures....happy to give a golf clap, slap on the back and celebrate Wake's "culture" of long pants and mediocrity. He should absolutely be winding down and going out on a high note rather than getting a raise and an extension as some have suggested. There's no evidence from 22 years of trying that he can build a consistently high performing program. Wellman's multi-decade reign is over. Time for some new blood.
Coach of the year candidate, #3 regular season finish & #5 finish final. Great season by Coach Haas and the Deacs! Going nowhere & contract extension!
