ND Fans

Any estimates of how many nd fans there were? I was fearing a Nebraska situation from 2007.

It was difficult to tell the difference from the stands, but my guess would be 3-4k based upon how loud they were.

Had a dozen or so ND fans tailgate with us, and they were very cordial and complimentary of our school, team and venue. I'd love to make playing them an annual occurance.

Wonder how many have stepped foot in the state of Indiana?

I spent a night in Indiana once but ND is my # 2 college team, always will be. Catholics pull for ND and there are lots of Catholics in regions other than the South. We're connected to ND(although I'm a lapsed Catholic for sure) and look up to the quality of the school as well as the school's desire to have a great football program.

The "Wal-Mart" ND fan doesn't really exist because Catholics will always pull for ND and there's plenty of them to go around.

We stayed in a local motel with a number of ND fans there and all were great people. I'd welcome the fans to the ACC if ND ever decides to come in. Class outfit. Would be a real gain for the ACC... Cant say that for all the recent additions.

Someone posted on the game thread that he saw two of them marched out by the cops. Wonder what that was about?

Think that was me. I was in section 10, saw a couple cops heading up about 20 rows above me, couldn't really tell what happened but everyone in the section was watching them. 2 guys in ND gear were escorted out without much resistance. Surrounding area seemed to be full of Irish fans so guessing it wasn't a fight.

It was hard to tell how many there were since they didn't have a distinctive color they were wearing (like State's red or Clemson's orange). I'd guess that there were fewer ND fans than we typically have for a home game against State or Clemson, but more than we would have for FSU. Probably about the same number of Nebraska fans that were here in '07.

I think Nebraska brought more than State/Clemson/VT typically do.

The only ND fan that annoyed me was yelling "Jesus loves us" as loud as he could directly toward my area of Wake fans at the end of the game. He took objection to a retort and complained because his kid was with him. My wife cracked me up by telling him he was a horrible parent.

Having been to a couple of games involving Notre Dame, I think that is one of the easiest fanbases to pick out the actual ND alums. They tend to have a genial, dorky aura about them (my Dad calls them "Notre Dorks"). We had a couple of those around us, but the general interactions in our area with ND fans were pretty good--everyone was having a good time.

Notre Dorks. haha. That's true actually. All the ND grads I know fit that description pretty well.

Had 4 younger ND alums behind us. They live in NC, bought season tix for this game but have been coming to the other games and rooting for Wake otherwise. They were super nice as they have been all season.

Had confrontations with two people last night in the stadium... Neither of them were ND fans.

All in all, the ND people I met were all really nice.

In section 4 we had two Wake guys going back and forth. The ND guy down a few seats from me looked at me and shrugged. He didn't know what to make of it. I didn't either.

I sat in two different places - where we usually sit and where our tickets actually are - last night and was surrounded by ND fans both times. In Sec. 18 we were a couple rows ahead of a particularly loud guy but he just seemed drunk and enthusiastic. Yelled an awful lot but only Go Irish! type things. In Sec. 17 it was much the same but without that guy. Everyone seemed respectful and in good spirits from what I remember. Acted much as I do when I go to opposing stadiums: cheer for your team and don't be a dick.

Had 2 guys in front of us in Section 2. Great conversation, they loved the stadium, the atmosphere, and the campus. And they hated Kelley. I tried to barter with them...let us win and we'll get your coach fired for you.

my seats are in 13. Some fans wanted a flag for every single thing that happened on the field.

one thing i did not get was when they were down, you wouldn't here a chirp out of any ND fans. but when they got ahead, it was like they just won the National Title.

Sounds like it was a great atmosphere all around.

Assuming ND does not join the ACC, really hope we can get them back to Winston in the future.

I talked with quite a few ND fans during the pregame parties, and all that I encountered then seemed very nice.

Unfortunately, after the game two females in our group were waiting on the concourse when a couple of ND fans walked by and made a production about clapping their hands right in the ladies' faces.

Kinda wished we had walked up about that time.

99% of the Notre Dame fans were cool... With that said, I had an interesting conversation with one of them about my sign.

As I walked by, this is how it went...

Him: What a faggot.
Me: (turns around and looks at him) What did you say?
Him: I said I liked your sign.
Me: If you're going to be man enough to say that, you better be man enough to own up to it.
His friends: *laughs at him*
Him: *silence*

After seeing he wasn't going to say anything else, I walked away.
