NFL Offseason Thread: 2018 NFL Draft

Don't think the Lions would've scored a TD if that game went on for years. Not sure what the fuck that was

A franchise that has lacked a running game since Barry Sanders.

Mortensen is saying the Eagles are one of the teams trying to get Megatron. That's the kind of move good teams make to get over the hump.

If they can add a LT, they will be really good.

Every year at the NFL trade deadline everyone acts like this is the year that NBA level drama and mega trades are finally going to happen, then some third string linebacker gets traded and its back to business as usual.

Damn. So much for the Shanny/Kirk reunion in SF (one would assume)

Garappalo would have to be the next Brady for this to be a bad deal. That's as good of a pick as you can get for a player who isn't an established star.

Def. Pats doing work per usual.

Speaking of trades, the Niners deffo will trade out of their spot in 2018, somebody's coming up to take a QB. They must not hugely value this crop of guys either

Yeah. Good point. They gave up a lot but after Trubinsky, they probably figure they can get a lot.

From a pats fan perspective I like the trade. Good value for minimal remaining contract leverage from the team.

Still would like to know the offers this past summer? Was it just b.s. about high first round picks? Timing just seems bungled as pats trade our other proficient backup for WR insurance earlier in year. Could they have found value in seeing Brady compete with garrapolo another for the first two months of the season before fully committing to Brady.

Regardless of the answers - pats and Brady keep coming out ahead.

Why do teams always pay up for these donk pats back-ups

Yeah, um, the Pats didn't err by avoiding a faux QB competition between Tom Brady and Jimmy Garappolo for the first two months of the season.

Pretty bad return considering what Schefter was saying in the offseason. Well, guess Tommy is playing until he's 45 (if there was ever any doubt).

What more could they have gotten for him?

Just can’t see another reason for waiting until now to pull the trigger. Insurance to injury, more time to see if peak Brady remains after the dreaded 40 year old cliff, the offers over the summer weren’t that good. That’s it. Not saying there was qb competition for this year- but there was definitely competition for the qb spot next year if they were going to keep jimmy g around with big money.
