Non-Political Coronavirus Thread

Those repeated exposures are going to increase my likelihood of catching it, right? This is a point I have not heard anyone make when discussing the fact that there seem to be a lot of breakthroughs happening.

Yes.

People are making that point. It’s why they said even vaccinated people should mask up in areas of high transmission.

Yeah it’s something i posted about in the other covid thread. Repeat exposure is just repeat testing of your immune response. Also the definition of infected is somewhat relative. To have an immune response helped by being vaccinated you technically have to be infected.

my BIL is just winding down a breakthrough case. he's a very healthy, strapping 42 yo trump supporter who was nevertheless vaccinated fairly early b/c he's in healthcare.

COVID totally knocked him on his ass.

I was on the brink of diabetes and had to lose weight. Combination of a nutritionist consult (free at work) and intermittent fasting (IF) helped me lose 20 lbs and lowered my A1C a full point. No longer close to being diabetic. Don't want to derail this thread, but good luck.

55+ yo dad (Tampa) with MS just confirmed positive

didn't get vaccinated on doctor's recommendation due to MS

fuck this

The doctors who aren't recommending the vaccine are a big part of the problem. You'd think medical professionals would have some ability to assess risk.

I've got a friend with Lyme that similarly has his doctors not recommending the vaccine, and I'm headed to his 40th Bday party in a couple weeks. Hard to know in some of these cases.

? gotta think an MS specialist knows what she's saying when she doesn't reccomend getting it

Based on some quick google searches, it seems like one of those things where 4 in 5 doctors would recommend getting the vaccine. Your dad may have that 5th doctor. That's why I mentioned risk. I'm sure there are risks either way, but I have a tough time believing the risks from the vaccine for someone with MS are worse than the risks of getting COVID.

Something tells me TKory didn't reveal that his dad didn't get vaccinated on the advice of his doctor and that his dad caught COVID, so that PhDeac, while knowing nothing about MS or Tkory's dad's medical history, could spend five minutes on Google, and render a medical opinion on his father's case and the competency of the doctor.
