If you're a GM, do you look at his entire career history and possible marketing value? Or do you look at the last two years of on-field performance and couple it with the fact that he'll turn 38 next year?
 
How is this even being discussed? Isn't he locked up through 2017?

Or is it just speculating for fun/discussion?

Yes, but his salary is definitely relevant, hence the discussion. The Yankees would have to eat such a huge amount for it to be worth it.

That's a wildly misleading "article"

1. Ticketmaster isn't refunding the money, not the teams.
2. Other teams aren't refunding the money either (don't remember off-hand but there's at least three others)
3. Those teams that ARE refunding the money are paying ticketmaster and then ticketmaster gives the client the whole charge back
4. ITS RIGHT THERE IN GIANT PRINT THAT YOU AREN'T GETTING THE ONE-TIME CHARGE OF $6 BACK
