Kawhi isn't being moved before the draft. With an unknown agent, no team would be able to get a solid reas on the likelihood of signing Kawhi to a long term deal so they have to think one year rental, at best, if Kawhi is healrhy. Spurs aren't going to let go early doe rental level compensation.

Lakers would need to pony up to get Kawhi from Spurs. Don't have a clue about what Lakers have that Spurs would want.

I'd argue taking a guard who shot 47% from the FT line #1 and sat out 70 games because of an inability to shoot to be worse than that trade, especially given the context that Philly and Boston are clearly going to dominate the Conference for the next 5 years and that trade could end up deciding which team does.
