Official 2023 College Football Thread: Michigan Recognized as National Champions of Cheating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The NC state board says their game against UCONN has been moved to Thursday nite at 7:30pm. I thought we were supposed to be the only acc game playing then.
it was moved to Thursday night back in May. Check the date

It's at UConn so it's not part of the ACC TV package

Miami University was founded in 1809. Florida became a state in 1845.

Team picked by media to finish 10th in the PAC-12 bans itself from bowl game. Effect is "devastating."

Wake has been picked in the bottom third of the conference and made a bowl probably 3-4 times in the past 8 years. I understand that you are the type of CFB fan to shit on the lower tier bowls for 6-6 P5 teams, but it absolutely means something to those players.

It's absurd that this decision wasn't made while the transfer portal was still open, and it is absolutely a major disservice to the seniors in that locker room that are playing their last ever football season with no ability to reach a meaningful goal.

i mean, i get how it's disappointing to a bunch of kids to not even have that option on the table

sounds like ASU fucked up by waiting on a year on self-punishment

Whoa, I didn't realize it was BiffTannen's fault their coach cheated and the administration didn't want to go head to head with the NCAA over infractions and chose to take a self-imposed Cactus Bowl ban for a team that wasn't going to make the Cactus Bowl anyway.

It's been discussed relentlessly with previous examples, but banning a team with a new coach from the postseason because of the action of the previous coach is just so ridiculously dumb. A lot of the players on this year's team weren't on the problematic team, and a large majority of the ones that were there did nothing wrong.

If anything, recent realignment has shown that CFB administrators really only care about the money. So if you are really trying to punish the school because of a coach's misdeeds, just fine the school and don't punish the players/fans/new coaches with a postseason ban.

Arizona State's win total is 4.5 at most casinos. Seems pretty disingenuous to post as though the odds that they win 6 games are almost nonexistent. There's absolutely a world in which they go 6-6 or even 7-5, and the players deserve to be rewarded with a trip to a bowl game if they were to meet that goal.

The analogy here is if a team like Oregon (+600 to make CFP) or Tennessee (+700) were to have a CFP ban. Those teams are relative longshots to make it anyways, but their players still have the right to set that as a goal and it would be a disservice to take that reward off the table because of something a former coach did.

Well Tennessee just took an $8 million fine instead of a bowl ban and 5 years probation. Do you think ASU can afford that ?

Even taking into account Cam Rising's status as questionable... Utah -6.5 on Thursday night at home seems like free money.

What am I missing?

What are you missing? This...

It just means more.

Guessing this is the end of the road for the former 5-star.

Bama has a lot of proponents this year and a lot of doubters.

Pros: Nick Saban, OL, Secondary, Millroe is really athletic at QB, motivated by revenge
Cons: Two new coordinators, average WRs, Millroe hasn't mastered the passing game, killer instinct?

Despite all of that many are picking them to win the SEC East, the SEC, and even the CFP. I'm high on Alabama and the story is that they're going to line up and brutalize you. We'll see.
