Agreed. The players were well-coached on how to attack the zone. Doesn't mean we did much damage against it -- even if you approach it correctly it's not easy to execute. Well coached game by Bz. But of course this is the high water mark for Bz and we're still not going to make the tournament, so Bz Out.
 
If my ice skating coach told me to do three quadruple axels in a row and I did just that, I just might win a major competition. Problem is, I can't do one quad, much less three.

So, a good coach isn't really effective when he depends on strategies his players can't execute. Or, he goes out and recruits players who can execute. Either way, we just didn't get it done last night.
 
Along this line, does the NCAA allow a school to bring in a "specialist" to teach a skill to players? I'm wondering why we don't bring in someone to teach FT shooting. Heck, bzz should have paid someone out of pocket since he makes so much for such dismal results.
 
There are 10 teams in the ACC shooting under 70% from the line. If it was as simple as hiring a specialist to fix everyone would be doing that.

Obviously overcrashing on the offensive boards can have repercussions. Doesn't explain why we sucked on the defensive boards. Give a good team extra shots and they will destroy you. Which is what happened last night.

Yes it does. Nigerian Xmas and the other African were bigger and longer than anyone we had on the floor. They were reaching over people for rebounds.

Yeah, but we also don't have athleticism. We've been told that we're building a good old fashioned, team ball playing program, but no one can shoot. A team who could shoot 35-40% from 3 and hit free throws would have won last night.

See my earlier post. If we are going to win the old-school way, then we had better be able to shoot the ball, especially the free ones. But we can't.

Because they are way more athletic everywhere on the court, especially around the basket.

While Syracuse was going 2-16 or whatever to start the game and we had a 6 point lead, I was thinking "Any of our pre-[Redacted] teams would have buried these guys already". We should have been up at least 15 the way the game started.

What players today want to work on something where they can't show off....when they could be practicing their thunder dunks for the next big slam dunk contest?

ETA: And the reason so many fouls are being called is that either the players don't know what the rules are...or don't give a damn what the rules are. (And the referees are still calling only a fraction of the violations. I bet they missed 100 travelling calls last night.)

I get that it's not just us. That's the point. Bz is supposed to be building some old-school, fundamental, team-ball playing squad but we can't shoot and we don't rebound.
