Ongoing Dem Debacle Thread: Commander will kill us all

Only millennials would think trying to help her get better would be "not handling" her. Of course, they all kneel to her and are happy at her dividing Dems when victory is in sight.

RJ isn’t it also possible that Nancy Pelosi just sucks and should keep her eyes on the same prize? Everything you’re accusing AOC of doing is almost exactly what Pelosi is doing.

As I said last year, it's time for Pelosi to move on. But there's no way anyone else could keep this wild group together.

If AOC understood anything, she'd realize she could have a ton of power, but she's too immature and arrogant to understand how to build a base and use that power. Make no mistake about it, she will be used as a target for Trump to scare people in the 2020 election and will be blamed if Trump wins or if the GOP holds the Senate or retakes the House.

My pick to replace Pelosi is Hakeem Jeffries. He's got it all.

I don’t want another education “reformer” at the top of the Democratic Party.

MHB, you do realize about 85% of the board sees you as a total joke, don't you?

or put another way

Here are AOC's words:

“But the persistent singling out — it got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful — the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color.”

this isn't really that offensive. particularly when you consider that pelosi actually is explicitly singling out newly elected women of color.

and yet as a 29 year old bartender from the bronx she unseated a 20 year incumbent and caucus chair

CBC lawmakers rip Justice Democrats for targeting black lawmakers for primaries

Congressional Black Caucus members are furious at Justice Democrats, accusing the outside progressive group aligned with firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) of trying to oust lawmakers of color, specifically African-American lawmakers.

Justice Democrats is backing primary challengers to eight-term Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), a Hispanic Caucus member, and 10-term Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.), a member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). The insurgent group also made noise this year about challenging Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), a CBC member seen as the heir apparent to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

And CBC leaders are fretting that Justice Democrats may target other black lawmakers in the coming weeks and months, including Reps. Yvette Clarke (D-N.Y.), Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio), Emanual Cleaver (D-Mo.) and Anthony Brown (D-Md.). Brown said the group has been making calls in his district, actively trying to recruit a challenger to run against him.

Seems like they need to step up their game so they don’t get primaried.

The math here is simple. House Dems said they were going to hold the Trump administration accountable. If they don’t do that, House Dems risk getting primaried.

Victory for what? Seems like you and most "moderate" Democrats want to return to a pre-Trump status quo, the rest of us want to make systematic progressive economic changes. We're not content to return to the Obama era where very little was done to help those truly in need.

Because he didn't really run a campaign. She deserves credit for working her ass off to win the primary, but she hasn't done any learning on the job like anyone on any job would.

Seems misleading not to point out that the Justice Dems candidates challenging Cuellar and Clay are also Hispanic and black (respectively.)

Though I guess we're getting closer to the real reason some Dems are mad at AOC / Pressley.

RJ, this is just BS. You have no basis for saying this. She has been incredibly active, has done well in the hearings I've seen her participate in, and she is generating more enthusiasm than anyone in the party right now who is not running for President, and she scares the hell out of the right. That's why she is talked about on a daily basis. Pelosi needs to just focus on doing her job - she is just helping the other side with this sideshow.

That's patently on false on both issues.

The first bill Obama signed was Lily Ledbetter. This helped tens of millions of women and their families.

The Stimulus Bill made all contractors pay higher wages rather than "prevailing wages".

Other than Medicare, ACA was the most progressive healthcare bill in US history. This impacted millions of those in need. And put America on the way to universal care.

Exactly how was he supposed to get more done with the most obstructionist Majority Leader in US history blocking his every step? Without getting rid of McConnell or his majority status, the next won't be able to either.

He left the economy and society set up for the next step in progress.
