A bill introduced in the state House today could label some disruptive protesters as "economic terrorists" and criminalizes blocking streets while participating “in a riot or other unlawful assembly.”
House Bill 249, which has the short title "Economic Terrorism," was filed today by Representatives John Torbett and John Faircloth, Republicans of Gaston and Guilford counties, respectively.

Duke report blasts voucher program. Finds it is not structured to actually improve educational outcomes for poor kids in failing schools, but to give parents maximal choice and to funnel state money to religious schools.
Also of note: Three recent studies have shown that voucher programs actually decrease educational achievement. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/23/...ise-researchers-as-devos-era-begins.html?_r=0. One of them is from the Fordham Institute, a strong school choice proponent. the authors were very disappointed to find that their pet project isn't performing, but have to give them credit for honesty. a lot of organizations would have tried to bury the data.
