Pit Pet Thread

1st tick of the season was found this morning, so it looks like its time to start the flea/tick medicine again.

Do you apply it only during the warmer months or year round? I've heard arguments for both.

Year round, but we don't stress if we forget a month or two during the winter.

Way cool Birdman!!! I think the foster families for these dogs need a huge shout out. People always say it is great that I only adopt rescue dogs, but you guys are the real heroes !!

Thanks! There are soooo many dogs that need fostering or adopting in Alabama. It is depressing. Plus the state legislature and the state veterinary board is actively trying to shut down low cost spay and neuter clinics which just makes the problem worse.

Adorable! Does the little dude have a name yet?

His breeder gives names to all her puppies when they're born; his name was Beau. Our kids loved that name...my wife and me, not so much. So we twisted it a bit into Bowie which has satisfied everyone for now (apologies to The Thin White Duke).

We totally forgot what a pain a puppy is though. Lot of work but it's all good in the end...

Has anyone had any experience with pet insurance? I just picked up a policy for my dog for about $45/month. Wanted to see if it's a waste or if it's something anyone has benefited from here.

Sounds like a waste to me but I'll admit ignorance

I would have said the same thing until I had a dog on chemo and another get a spinal tap and multiple radiology procedures over the last year. Vet bills can get out of hand in a hurry once you start dealing with specialists.
