Political Compass

923. I think you are alot like me. There is no black and white answer to the issues that face this country and the "black and white" people on each side tend to annoy you depending on what mood you are in.

True. On this board, I think the most "black and white" people tend to be the true believers on the right and I do tend to spend more time deconstructing their talking points.

When I was younger, it seemed to me that the Democrats were pie in the sky idealists with no idea how the world actually works. Fast forward 10 years plus the Tea Party, and it seems to me now that on the whole, it's the Republicans who insist on unrealistic and unachievable solutions and demand ideological purity over practicality. Maybe I've changed but I think the political parties have changed too.

I can't think of anything that has pissed me off more politically than what Republicans have done to education in this state (NC) in the last few years.

If so...that's not necessarily what I believe but what that group believes.

I was also labeled a Libertarian by this process

It's their mission statement. They tell people whom to fear and what to hate. They are pure and unadulterated propaganda.

this is why we should stop letting people vote when the reach a certain age #realtalk

I'm a few years younger than you but I feel the same way even from around 2000 to now.

94 Deac and WakeandBake are tied for the most liberal social answers at -6.41. Whereas Wrangor is the ONLY person on this boards that is in the positive with a score of .10. I guess it is fairly easy to see why I feel one against the world on a lot of the social agenda threads. Because literally that seems to be the case.

Strickland takes the liberal cake economically with a strong score of -7.5, while silk proves his equal and opposite leader at a positive 7.75. Pretty interesting set of data points in reality. It truly highlights the social opinion/bias of the board and is a great representation of why the same threads blow up time and time again. Really interesting.

Psssssh, my -8.12 econ and -6.92 social scores beat those faux liberals any day.

I've probably always been a little more liberal than I let on. I just find the current manifestation of the GOP repulsive.

You keep saying this but I don't understand how a party can change your views. I would get it if you said "I am less a Republican because Republicans are crazy" but I don't get why you would change your beliefs based on the actions of a party.

IMO the political climate causes people to interpret the questions differently enough to answer differently, since the poll results could vary dramatically based on interpretation/state of mind. That poll was already pretty biased against the right in the way it asked a lot of questions so it wouldn't take much.

Economic: -7.50
Social: -6.46

As others have said, questions don't allow interpretation. I like the free market system for the most part but feel government regulation is important.
