Republican Nominee List Dwindling

If people want to define "liberal" as "voting for President Obama" then this board does lean left. Seems like a stupid definition, as only knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers, Jimmie-rustlers, people who's brains have frozen solid (DeacMan) and Wrangor would vote for Romney, while only true troglydytes would have voted for a ticket with Gov. Palin.

This post does far more to make my point than my own words ever could. Thanks sig.

All your Republican candidates belong to Hillary is the general theme of this thread. Oh that and RJ is not a liberal, he is an idiot.

And this is a conservative thread, can you imagine how crazy the liberal threads are??

Don't see how one deliberately over the top post supports a contention that moderates and conservatives COMBINED make up 20% of the board.

I never said that. I said 80% LEAN liberal. Read my original post. Draw a line down the middle of the political spectrum. Then put every active member of this forum on either the liberal or conservative side of that line. My statement stands. 4/5 or close to it would be on the left of the center line. Some would be way left some would be moderately left.

What this board tries to do (that sig and other have demonstrated) is redraw the center line to marginalized the few conservatives that post frequently. It is no huge deal but it is the reality if these boards.

I think I've made my point. I still think Christie won't really be hurt by this whole charade unless further evidence emerges. Peace my liberal overlords.

I do not agree with that definition of "a conservative thread." Most threads are a function of the OP's angle, and I would not describe the OP as being an honest broker's assessment of what candidate would truly be in the best interests of conservatives.

Thanks for the clarification. Had you said left of center rather than liberal initially, I would have interpreted your post differently. To me, moderates are between the 40 yard lines, conservatives and liberals beyond that. Don't see anyone on the board who is too liberal for the Dem party or too conservative for the GOP, but a plurality of posters who are moderate Dems, independents, or moderate 'Pubs.

BKF is too liberal for the Dem party and I think he would admit that.

Yeah. bkf is a socialist.

Back to the premise of the thread. Do you really think GOP primary voters will vote for an Obama hugging, Obamacare enacting, Muslim judge supporting, fat Yankee for POTUS?

I haven't read the whole thread, but wait a second - people think Huckabee isn't to the far right? What planet are you guys from?

He's an absolute nut that wouldn't win a state outside the South and Midwest. That would just invite a third party candidate to run.

Also I can't figure out if I've gotten more liberal as I've moved to Boston and attended the most liberal law school the country, as I've gotten older and theoretically wiser, or if it's mainly because the Republican Party is running on a party platform that is better equipped for 1914 than 2014. It may be a combination of the three but I'm certainly more liberal than I've ever been before.

I agree. I think we have a lot of moderate pubs and Dems. There are some outliers but we wouldn't be able to hold a conversation if we were all on the fringes. The posters that have the most issues on this board are the outliers.

The problem is that moderates - regardless of party affiliation - would probably not support any currently feasible GOP nominees. That's the problem for the GOP anyway.

I think moderates are going to eat Chris Christie up with a spoon if he gets his house in order.

I posted this on the Facebook thread but I'll post it here since the Iowa GOP holds so much power in the primary process.

I think Christie would win more moderates than any Pub or Dem. Is he "feasible"? Who knows.

I think Hillary and Christie would pick up about the same if they were running against someone from the fringes in the other party. If that's the matchup, the fight for the center will be that much more intense and there would be a larger center due to dislike within the party.

I agree. I think Wrangor is a dick.
