Romney Picks Paul Ryan as VP

Now the question becomes will Ryan stay on the ballot for Congress?

So how well did the Romney app work? I assume subscribers found out about this well before the press, correct?

Paul Ryan the person is chill. Paul Ryan the congressman is very talented. Paul Ryan the 2nd in command... Not yet.

Why not? He's got fourteen years of Congressional experience. He knows budgetary and legislative processes backwards and forwards. He is charismatic and has shown considerable political skill. What is he missing that Joe Biden, or for that matter Barack Obama had?

If the rumors are true, Romney/Ryan is a pretty good ticket.

A turnaround specialist and a fiscal adult are a good sell to a Country with high unemployment, a stagnant economy and consuming debt.

I love the selection....will be voting for Romney mainly for Ryan. I don't think there is a hill of beans difference between Romney and Obama when it comes down to things they can actually effect (affect?). But having Ryan's presence in the White House would be a great thing for our country. Someone in there who actually puts his name beside something and sticks to it...an amazing concept. The two presidential candidates should try it sometime.

Interesting. One thing this pick might do is turn this campaign into a substantial debate about entitlements...probably the single biggest problem facing our nation. But I doubt it.

I think I have read that comment on here with every single potential choice.

I can't wait to see how many seats in the House this will cost the Republicans. All of RJ's hyperconfident pronouncements are very credible and don't seem needy and forced at all.

It will be interesting to see Biden vs. Ryan. At least this time we will have to see what Biden will do. Last campaign he was babysitting, this time he will be facing a formidable opponent. I am not sure what to expect out of Biden in the debates, but I thought he did well last year in a weird situation. You don't expect to have to debate a teenager when you are running for VP. I fully expect Ryan to be a tough match for him. Will be fun.

In fairness, Joe Biden's been putting his name beside work for years. Some of it was actually his own. Hey-oh!

I think this is a great choice. That was my first reaction at least.

You are a real trip, jhmd. I'll give you that.

If this is the GOP ticket, this is what you have: A Mormon worth hundreds of millions of dollars, with money hidden in secret accounts all over the world, who made much of his money by outsourcing American jobs and won't release his tax returns....and a young, upstart congressman who wants to dismantle medicare.

Yeah, that's a winning ticket, all right.

What you have is a real choice, which people too often bemoan the absence of. Here, you've got one ticket that wants to pretend we're not on a collision course with insolvency and other with ideas to fix it. If you want to be part of the solution, you have a choice. If you don't, then you also have that option.

Gut instinct.

Although, compared to Rubio & Christie, this guy looks like a seasoned vet.

We have a real choice, that's for sure.......and you can be certain that the voters will make it.

First debate question: Would each nominee please articulate his plan to balance the budget?

2nd question: how do you feel about the Indian-American community? Do you have friends who are governors of their respective states or do you believe they all work at 7-11?
