I'm hoping Webb rebounds after his horrific showing 4 years ago. And I think the course fits both his and Poulter's games. They're both short but straight hitters, and that should fit that course well. Both coaches should put them out in 4somes Fri & Sat. I think Furyk should ride Spieth/Reed, DJ/Koepka and Thomas/whoever on Fri & Sat. If there are 2 guys I don't trust on our side, it's Bubba and Phil. I wouldn't consider either of them for 4somes. On the other side, I think Bjorn made a big mistake taking Sergio over either RBC or Pieters. Agree I wouldn't bet on Rory's balky putter and that Poulter might be their most dangerous guy, and it pains me to say it because I despise the guy. I'm interested to see if Bjorn pairs Noren and Stenson in 4somes - they could be a tough duo as really good ball strikers (Noren won there 3 months ago).
Everyone is talking like we're the favorites, and I don't get it. We've been awful on foreign soil, and yeah I know we've made changes for the better, but that Euro team is just as loaded as we are. All of our guys are in the top 30, and 10 of their guys are, with Poulter just outside of it. The other thing is they know the course, whereas Thomas is the only US guy who played there this year, which disappointed me. First, why not familiarize yourself with the course. Second, the late June to July stretch of the French, Irish, Scottish and Open is a month where the Euro tour is way better than what we have to offer during that period.
