Sagarin now has Deacs ranked ahead of Duke using "Golden Mean"

K does it without choking his players or getting in trouble with puerto rican cops, etc., etc. Bob Knight was fired from his job for conduct unbecoming a basketball coach.

Sometimes its about more than wins and losses.

The sad truth is that more than a few people on here would sacrifice a tournament appearance this year in order to get rid of Bzz.

Luckily nobody will ever have to make that choice. Colorado fans certainly didn't and look at where their program is now.

And while Coach K's numbers are better, you have to remember one thing: There wouldn't even have been a Coach K if not for Bob Knight. Knight coached him at Army, prepped him as a coach....and got him the job at Duke with his recommendation to Duke AD Tom Butters.

Another reason to hate Bobby Knight, then

Bobby Knight was/is an idiot.

Very happy. I was getting tired of picking up the newspaper and reading about WF basketball in the police reports instead of the sports section.

I'll bite. How many police reports happened while Dino was on campus?! Hardly any!

You could make a pretty convincing argument that Colorado would be in a similar position with Bzz as they are with Boyle now given their trajectory when he left.

So make it.

Just look at the difference in their KenPom numbers between 2010 and 2011. 2010: Offense: 111.4 (29) Defense: 103.4 (213), 2011: Offense: 116.0 (9) Defense: 103.1 (199)
They jumped from 88 to 52 between those two seasons, but they also brought back nine of their top ten guys and added Andre Roberson, who now plays for the Thunder.

They also got a different coach.

Which apparently, according to some, is enough to change an entire programs imaginary culture problems

We've jumped 57 spots since last year in a similar situation. Colorado made the NCAA Tournament in 2012 with the same KenPom ranking. Granted, they got in because they won their conference tournament, but still.

in what world is Wake's situation similar to Colorado's?

At Colorado [Redacted] took over a shitty program coming off it's worst season ever. He then "led" it through one of the worst three year stretches in that program's already pretty bad history. A new coach took over and has led them to probably their best 4 year stretch in program history.

At Wake [Redacted] took over a top 25 program coming off an average season. He then "led" it through the worst three year stretch in program history. In fact it was even worse than the stretch he had at Colorado.

And we are supposed to be excited because he has brought us back to a level just below what is considered historically mediocre for our program? Or because the new coach at the program he left behind has brought that program to a level that would be considered about average for our program?

We brought back eight of our top nine guys and added an impact player. I'm not talking about the entire context, just a two year similarity as far as internal team development with the addition of one key player.

[Redacted] : Basketball program :: Little boy : Hiroshima

Your insistent defense of Buzz is admirable, but seriously?

Like I said previously, I'm not convinced he's a good coach. But sometimes you need to look at things rationally. Colorado brought back almost everyone from 2010 so their experience jumped from bottom third to top third nationally and they added an impact, NBA level talent. They rose 36 spots in Pomeroy, similar to how we've risen 57 spots from last season after losing one key guy and adding another. Coron isn't going to play in the NBA like Roberson, but he offsets much of what CJ Harris provided while freeing up CMM to handle the ball regularly.
