Two years ago I finally bit the bullet and bought this because as a kid I used to look exactly like Ralphie (and still kinda do) and picked up the appropriate glasses:

And someone was randomly the leg lamp. We made conversation for a minute and I convinced her to do the couples contest with me. We were a LOCK for the prize but I was talking to the group in front of us in line and then BAM she disappeared. So I had to bail since I didn't have a partner.

Worst Halloween ever.

ftr, i loved this idea (lampshade + pink bunny), so i pitched this idea at dhtoy. got back the shortest email i've ever gotten from him.

"no."

bahahaha, tell him he can be the lamp!

....actually, that's brilliant. have him be the lamp (assuming you're halloweening w/ running/active people).

ha, i'm guessing the response will be the same, but i'll see what he says.

but seriously, he's running the turkey trot, which is one of charlotte's biggest races, in a SPEEDO (and i'm not talking about those speedo-brand longer short type swim suits. i'm talking the itty bitty things). the turkey trot goes RIGHT by my parents' house. my entire extended family is going to see him in a speedo. yet he won't wear a pink bunny suit. boys are so perplexing sometimes.

hey ITK, how hard would it be for me (very novice, once took a sewing class in high school... i've made a pillow before and a skirt) to sew a vest? pretty easy?

i've just spent the last 30min hearing my coworker loudly talk on the phone about her hormones, her various prescriptions for anxiety meds, birth control, her husband's impending vasectomy, and how acupuncture has stopped her nightsweats.

i know some people are more open about these things than others, but still. is there no sanctity to the open airwaves of the office? i don't want to know this stuff.

this is also a woman that would regularly ask the pregnant girl (who's since had her baby) how much she was dialated, etc.

PERSONAL BOUNDARIES, WOMAN.

I think personalizing/jazzing pressboard is fine too but there are some good used furniture places in WS, too! Habitat Restore, Kinnamons, Consignment Furniture Emporium are all ~1 mile apart.

I went to Consignment Furniture Emporium for the first time recently. My tastes run toward vintage/antique furniture (that's mostly what I have in my apt) and it seemed like pretty much all the stuff in the store were pieces you'd see in any "new" furniture store, so it wasn't really for me...but the prices weren't terrible.

I'd also add Elizabeth's at Hanes Park to the list (next to slopera house) - they have some funky pieces, and things are on consignment so prices go down the longer the item is there.

In terms of thrift stores, none of the Goodwills have a ton of furniture and it's VERY hit or miss whether the furniture they have is any good or not. Rescue Mission (downtown, near District) actually has a lot of furniture, so it might be worth checking out.

(I am an expert thrift store and secondhand shopper, hahaha)

Not hard I think. You'd probably have 6 pieces- 3 outer pieces and 3 lining. There should't
be any hard fitting issues either.

I hate that lululemon makes such limited quantities of their things. I saw a pair of running shorts I really liked and sent a link to my parents on Monday as a bday gift option. They don't have my size anymore and I don't feel like they usually get things back in stock. They have good quality items and I wouldn't want that to suffer for quantity, but still. I'm kicking myself for not ordering the shorts a couple days ago.

I've mentioned this a lot. My coworker once ordered Cialis over the phone.

agreed.
...thankfully i have two stores in my area. Want me to check on something for you? I'm happy to do it.

are you sure? i'm always game for a new reason to go in there....
btw, their long-sleeved shirts are AMAZING. amazing. I want one in every color, but that's excessive and expensive.

which shorts do you like? i've tried a couple on and they're not my favorites (i like the nike tempo shorts, along w/ the rest of the world), but maybe actually moving in them would make a difference.

The one pair I have is the Turbo short, and that's actually the only thing I have from them. I was looking at the Bright At Night short in the tonka stripe cashew/black, which they only have left in size 4. Their other styles are all too short for me.

I actually do not care for the Nike Tempo shorts. They always seem to look like a diaper somehow. Haven't had a particular favorite pair of shorts in my running life. My first pairs with liners were Adidas and I rather love them, but I also have Brooks, New Balance, Champion, RaceReady, Oiselle, Nike and surely others. Seems I like a lot that aren't part of the regular collections since I'm unable to find them year after year. Brooks Infiniti II is a good one they keep making though.

ooh, i like those.
agreed that the tempo look kind of like a diaper, but they don't ride up on me and i like the liner.
other than the tempos, my favorite thing is my brooks running skirt.

I've never owned proper running shorts. I usually run in some derivation of basketball shorts, but they are getting to be too big.

I've never spent much money on shorts to run in so never had any that don't ride up. Therefore I usually wear spandex shorties underneath or I have one pair that I love with a spandex liner attached.

that's what i like about the skirts- they pretty much all have shorties as the liner, and the brooks one has silicone on the bottom of the leg openings to keep them from working up in your business.
