SPOILERS: Star Wars: The Last Jedi Discussion Thread SPOILERS

So what is the title for the inevitable low budget porno parody that follows Episode VII...I'll take a shot:

"The Phallus Awakens"

So, uh. Some rumors dropped Friday, and I sort of hope they're completely wrong?

Rumors of a Star Wars spinoff movie focusing on the adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope have been circulating almost since Disney announced there would be spinoff Star Wars movies—but now those rumors have evolved into a whole trilogy, starring Ewan McGregor.

The latest iteration comes from the Schmoes Know podcast—and even they advise skepticism, so that goes to show how stretched this one is—who claim that Disney are in talks with McGregor for an unspecified role. That role is believed to be a Post-Episode III Ben Kenobi in not just one movie, but three in a spinoff series that are separate from the Anthology/Star Wars Story series that Rogue One is part of.

Just seems like a bit much, and I liked McGregor's Kenobi! I'm really skeptical that Kenobi hangin' out on Tatooine, watchin' Luke, is enough to fill one movie, never mind three.

it's pretty clear that Obi wan could contribute to the rise of the rebellion and events leading to ANH; he must have done something for leia to think he's still a viable source of aid

yeah but in Leia's message to him, she says that he served with her father in the Clone Wars. And we assume her father is still instrumental in the Rebellion until Alderaan gets blowed up, so I'm not sure what Obi Wan was up to on his own for the Rebellion, if anything.

Leia's father Bail Organa is a key figure in the Rebellion in Star Wars Rebels which takes place about 10 years before Ep IV. The next episode teases an appearance by a princess.

A long series of hot takes. Most of them are laughably bad but worthy of discussion like the idea that the Force can be accessed by anybody and the Force actively brings Finn, Poe, and Rey together.

Not bad

right so with the Organas doing a lot to set up the Rebellion for 30 years, it sounds like Leia's never heard of this Obi Wan guy until dispatched to pick him up since it's gotten so bad they gotta pry this former Jedi out of his hole. also, why did they not try to get Yoda, too? In Ep 3 Yoda gets picked up by Bail Organa after fighting the Emperor and tells him he's gotta go into exile. So Bail knows Yoda is still out there.

The opposite. Perhaps Obi Wan has been active with the Rebellion but out of the sight of the Empire. Yoda went full exile and didn't want to be found. Obi Wan was looking after Luke. Makes sense that the two caretakers were in touch.

just wait until we find out Obi Wan was actually working fo the dark side during that whole period

It would make sense. He was actually keeping an eye on Luke for the Emperor, making sure he stayed tucked away on Tattooine and hidden from Vader, because that would be too big of a threat to the Emperor. He only revealed himself as a former Jedi Knight when the Emperor needed him to retrieve the Death Star plans hidden in R2D2. That allowed him to make contact with Luke and also why he lied to Luke about Vader being his father. He hired the Millennium Falcon precisely because it was a "hunk of junk". He didn't think that it would be capable of actually getting to Alderaan. When they ended up on the Death Star he had to improvise and ended up sacrificing himself to allow Luke to escape and avoid Vader finding out who he was. He didn't count on them actually being able to rescue Princess Leia and her leading them to the Rebel base.
